Forums - NSFW Discussion - WTF With Japan?!

Lately I've been rather concerned about how Japanese female cartoon, comic and game characters tend to be in skimpy outfits.

No I'm not saying it's wrong, but it feels like it should be when said characters are only 14-17. How is this considered ok?!

As long as it's not real then no problems with me.

Just want to point out, that under federal law (for America), possession or distribution of material that shows a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, even if the minor depicted is animated/computer generated, is illegal. Jail time can be anywhere from 5 to 40 years if I remember correctly. Just a fair warning for those in America.

Here's a novel idea. Stop consuming content that doesn't interest, or even offends, you. Clearly it's not something you should be wasting your time on.

It tells one thing or three about the people that do consume such content.

It tells you that they have money and/or internet. Some good qualities to have I'd say.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Mao and I had a chuckle at this. In a medium where a character's age doesn't often reflect their design, it seems like a silly thing to be all hot and bothered over. Reminds me of that old trap argument.

Anyways, if you don't like it, go invest your time into another medium.

The problem is I found it really sexy, but when it turned out she was only 14-15 I felt like a piece of shit. Then again, she's an anime character and I didn't do anything directly to her, right?

Would you feel dirty if you had a dream, whilst underage, about doing it with your teacher? No? Then stop bloody fretting about it. It's a fictional medium and like in Vegas, what happens in fiction, stays in fiction.

Stop asking and piss off. This kind of makes me glad feminism lost the war in Russia. At least there's one society that's completely impervious to this bullshit.

Here are the laws of your Russian cultural paradise: while consumption of pornography is legal, the sale and production of any pornography, as of 2015, is illegal in Russia. Russia has banned numerous porn sites within their country. Possession of fictional depictions of underage sex (hentai would be on the extreme end of this) is highly illegal, punishable with between 2 and 15 years of imprisonment.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I also heard the legal age of consent in Japan was 14 years. If you move to Japan and you have a daughter at 14years that consented to an adult you'd rip his fucking head off

Japanese artists don't give a shit about western standards. Same with Korean artists (for games in this case, female characters in korean games tend to be very sexy, wear few clothes and even look underage).

Lots of magas featuring sexualized underage girls are licensed aand sold in the US, to love-ru is an example. Legalized,  licensed and published in US.

* Enacted. Not enforced.

Such is the way of most of Russia's more Draconian laws. Hell, soliciting is illegal according to the law and the frigging president said people using it weren't an issue! With the exception of the PHB ban (which was actually  the result of posting politics as videos), it's all loosely enforced (or not enforced at all). Same with the US in some states regarding the thing below...

Would you do the same if your 14 year old son had sex with an adult? Or are you a sexist?

As long as they use protection and they aren't into shady stuff, I probably wouldn't mind. If it's safe and consensual and everyone knows, I have few reservations. Just don't make this into a routine.

Helicopter parenting and just always being there for children are different things and America has to learn the distinction.

Thus the "unenforced laws". Often, the laws are intended to placate a very vocal and conservative segment of the population that the politicians need to get their way. They differ from "active measures" (like what Sony and California are pulling off) that effectively attempt to suppress stuff they don't want rather than just asking people keep it in their bedrooms.

sounds like a lot of virtue signaling from the OP lol
don't like it? don't watch it, problem solved
