Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is E.A and Blizzard's defense of mobile platforms genuine or exec mandated?

I'm curious on this one.

E.A's declaration that 'we need to accept Mobile' and Blizzard wondering if the issue is people not having phones,  is that from the developers wanting to put it there and not understanding the reaction, or are they having to run the corporate line?

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

It's all just guesswork, but projects are greenlit by those high up in the companies, so while some developers most definitely love making games on mobile when you work for big publishers they are the ones who decide which games are going to be made. As far as Blizzard's whole deal with the new Diablo is concerned, I just think it was a bit tone-deaf of them to say something like that at Blizzcon. Considering Blizzard's history, I would guess that a majority of the people in attendance were PC gamers at least to some extent. I'm not sure what kind of reception they were expecting when they tell that audience that a Diablo game isn't going to be on PC..

One could argue that making the announcement at BlizzCon, which in turn made all of this noise, was a very smart move. Would we be talking about it right now otherwise?

Are the executives who run Blizzard the ones who decide what projects Blizzard works on? Probably.

Companies are chasing the big mobile whales, and developers have to obey, whether they want to make mobile games or not.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The person who for example said "What? You guys don't have phones?" was obviously damage control. I think most devs know the risks of something like a Diablo phone game, they just don't have a choice.
