Well that didn't last long. Also thought this was about GoW.

At the end of the day Blackops 4 is selling very well, so which is getting the most attention doesn't really matter to me. I'm more interested in if a game deserves the sales it gets rather than if a game deserves to be talked about.

Agreed sales are the main focus for the dev/publisher its just that the mediaperception between the 2 that baffles me

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

ok then nevermind

CoD is released every year while this is Rockstars first game since 2013, their last game being one of the biggest and most successful games of all time with over 100m copies shipped. I imagine that's the reason. Rockstar's games are more of an event.

While Blackops 4 might be the best CoD game in a long time, it's still just the latest entry in an annual franchise. CoD is routine.

Idk why it would baffle you. A CoD game releases every year. It obviously performs very well, but in terms of media attention, it's not exactly a big time story anymore. It's like your annual FIFA release. Certainly a big deal financially, and a great many people get hyped for it every year, but it's not much of an occasion, because at this point it's the same old song and dance. The media have, over the years, said just about all there is to say on these games. Rockstar release a major game like once every half decade. It's an event.
