Forums - Sony - Is GT5P considered successful? Can it sell 2 million?

Basically,it is going to sell one million, but two million? can an America(s) launch help it reach 2 million?

I think it can reach 1.5 million max. an American launch will help but it wont help it go to 2 million.

I think its successful. Its a taste of the real game and it gets you hyped for Gran Turismo 5.

yes is successful, sadly true?
A "demo" sell a lot better than complete games.

I'd say its successful. It doesn't have nearly the same amount that GT5 will have, and it's already almost to a million. I can see it getting to 1.5 mil, maybe to 2 mil.

2 million easily IMO

I can definitely see it getting to 2 million.

o yea i 4got

how could it sell 2 million if gran turismo 4 prologe didnt sell even 1.5 with a much larger userbase?

it's the first ever installment of gran turismo on the ps3, that's why. Gran Turismo Concept 2001 Tokyo sold more than gt:4p too. that was basically gt:3p, with a smaller install base aswell.

It is definetly successful, it will probably reach 2 million.

GT4:P only did 1.5M because everyone already had a GT game for their PS2 (GT3). Only the very hardcore fans bought GT4:P.

Because it is being released in America, and GT5:P in others has already passed GT4:P in Europe/Korea/SE Asia.  So pretty much all you have is about a 500k reduction in Japan, which is somewhat offset by the unknown number of downloads in all regions.

Well, any game that sells over a million is automatically considered a success in my eyes, but I do not think it succeeded in living up to the expectations many Sony fans around here heaped up on it. Many people worshipped this game like it was the second coming of Christ, and predicted domination over the Wii and apocalypse for the 360 after its launch. This obviously did not happen.

Considering the fact that Others is a more racer friendly market than NA, and that there are more PS3's there, I think it will take a while to get to 2 million, but it will get there eventually.
