Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition exceeded expectations outside Japan

Good to hear. Hopefully we'll get to see a sequel for the Switch (as long as it's not influenced by DW9 that is).

But what were their expectations for Fire Emblem Warriors?

Its a million plus seller, so I'm sure they must be happy with that.

Cool. I should play Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition sometime.

It just shipped a million. TBH if I had to guess VGChartzs' prediction for physical sales is probably pretty spot on. It came out in the west like one week before Odyssey. It probably only has a 30% digital rate at best, which would put it under 700k (and that digital rate is probably lower than 30%).

I think Nintendo thought of it as something that would sell pretty well in the first year and would have legs. It was kind of advertised as one of the big exclusives for the first year, yet it's advertising kind of stunk and it's release schedule was wack. Which is probably why it's shipped so much.

I still need to buy it and Fire Emblem Warriors...

It obviously got overshadowed by Odyssey at the time, but as is usually the case with Nintendo franchises it has good legs. Bearing in mind this was a few months back, and does include 3DS number. Pretty sure Switch will count for at least 85% of those sales though
