How can a game that has 萌え in its name and is all about schoolgirls sell so badly?!?! My image of Japan is shattered!

 The number 20k is almost same as shipment of limited-edition. This indicates the most of sales is them of limited-edition. And limited-edition became sold-out at preorder.  In addition, "Otaku" doesn't tend to buy normal-edition because they buy it for special privilege of limited-edition.

 So, I think the sales of first week will be less than or comparable to 30k.

Forza was never going to sell strongly in Japan - be lucky to get 15k units on first week. Might make top #20...

how are there first day numbers for forza when the game hasn't even released yet?

Forza launched on the 24th in Japan. There are conflicting reports. Gamasutra says it's the second best selling game this week. We'll find out next week. Thanks for the numbers, y-koron.

Seems Gamasutra was depending on the Amazon bestsellers, which is not a good indicator. We've been able to use y-koron's estimates a lot better. And, if y-koron's numbers are correct, although it isn't great for first day sales (5-7k), it is interesting to notice that last week, the software sold to 360 owners totalled 5,511. So, in one day, the 360 possibly outsold it's previous weeks performance. Hardware might go 3-4k, with Forza finishing between 15-20k for the week, possibly.
