The third series. Out of the first series only the first game has aged well.

Core Design's TRs, by far.
Legend, Anniversary, Underworld were quite good, if bit easier than Core's due to easier jumping.
"Lara Croft and The...." games are very fun coops.
I don't consider Reboot games to be TR at all, they are just named that for marketing purpose to ride on well known and established IP.

Second series was the only one I played to completion, so that one. While I'm at it: Legend > Anniversary > Underworld (Too glitchy, confusing level design and the story wans't that great).

I've tried playing the first Tomb Raider and found it to be too clunky, and TR 2013 bored me to tears since it was more of a survival/shooter game than a "tomb raiding" one.

I'm really interested in trying Angel of Darkness though since there are tons of fan mods/patches to fix the game and it looks playable now, that game has always caught my eye when looking at Tomb Raider games and I don't really know why.

Easily the second series. From there, all of the games took crucial steps back in my eyes. Identity and soul were lost in the latest series.

The second series as it's refered to here. I like Legend in particular for embracing the fact that it is a video game, similar to how corny and over the top the writing is in many Resident Evil games.

The first series' controls are so clunky that the games never resonated well with me despite their interesting settings.

The third series turned Lara Croft into a brutal killing machine that carries the flag of female supremacy. Yeah, I get that men are idiots, but every single one of them being that stupid is taking things a bit too far. On a more serious note, the bigger problem is that Tomb Raider jumped on the bandwagon of the homogenous supergenre and gave up most of its own identity in the process.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I think that most people that didnt played first 3 games when they are out, are choosing some other series,
so most people don't realise that TR1/TR2/TR3 were one of best games of its generations, and we talking about generation with plenty of greats games.

You mean TR1, TR2 and TR3?

First series overall. But I also really liked Legend.. the game was very good and wet Lara gave me a weird reluctant boner.

Never played the reboot.
