God damn it...enough with the portable systems. Make a xbox 360 castlevania...in 2D...NOW!

lol. Actually, castlevania portable games are pretty much some of the best out there. Even the PSP castlevania is pretty awesome.

Anyway, YES! Castlevania for the DS + Phoenix Wright series = the reason I think the DS is the best console of "current gen"

YASSSSSSSSSSSSEEE!

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Err @ hunter_alien

Next Gens aren't out yet, when the new consoles come out I'm sure they will make it.

If you mean't the newly arrived consoles then who knows, as far as I know Wii castlevania isn't in the works, but would be interesting what they could do with that if it was a side scroller game... kind of like Street Fighter 4 meets castlevania stuff.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

Igarashi said that he was planning a Castlevania game for the 360 (and the PS3 if MGS4 really boosts the userbase substantially like people want expect the game to)

wow. another regurgitation of the same old. I got sick of this formula in the first DS game, after pplaying all GBA games. always the same. nothing different. just replay the old games and there you go.

That's nice. Castlevania fans disagree. I'll point out the obvious flaw in your pre-judgement, which is of course, that there are no details about the game available, so you couldn't possibly know what your talking about. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that it will be very similar to Castlevania DS.

Which in turn is very similar to Symphony of the Night.

Which in turn, is one of my favorite games ever.

2D castlevania is the only way it should be done, imo. You would probably agree. So, what exactly is the problem? Do you just want the series to die, because it continues to be one of the greatest experiences around, with each new itteration, imo.

Why do you think so many people show up on posts and yell, "Damnit! Enough with the DS!!! I don't own a DS and want to play this!!! Make it for my system FFS!"

Why? Because it's awesome.

Just my opinion. Of course, you are always entitled to yours.

However, I suggest you play Portrait of Ruin, which has a few twists on the old gameplay formula, and my favorite portable Castlevania.

I do, however, find it tough to swallow, that any human would want the 2D castlevania series to come to an end, and let the 3d one live on. It's like burning the Mona Lisa and drawing a "I Blame Wii-Fit" sketch to replace it.

Just...no. The Castlevania series still ranks amongst my favorites because of the portable games and SotN. These games do nothing but help the franchise. I equate disliking them due to gameplay, with calling Galaxy a rehash.

I know they are. I beat the 3 that were out on gameboy advance and the first one for DS. My eyes can't take the strain anymore though...

@zen: I actually really adored the series at some point in time. I even tried to play through Castlevania 64. However, I got the first GBA castlevania and finished it, then got the double pack of the other two on GBA just before getting a DS. I finished them both. Then one of the first DS games was the first Castlevania DS.

And you know what? I stopped after about 8 hours of playing. Cause I got bored. I mean, how often within 4 months can you start at the castle bridge, then go through the caves to get to the secret gardens and the hall and the clock tower to eventually get an items so you can jump high/ walk under water/ walk on water etc. pp.. I really just stopped caring. cause i have been there and done that. nothing new.

I really used to like Castlevania. At one point it was the highest form of innovation (on SNES, PS1). Since then, its Symphony of the night all over again...
