Eh, I still don't get it. How does any of this affect the victims of the earthquake and their families. If in the place of the direct Nintendo decided to do a fundraising campaign for the victims I could understand it. Rather they're simply deciding, "Ok we won't upload a video." I really don't see how it matters on any level at all. I'm assuming it's already been recorded.

If Nintendo wish to show respect to the victims, surely there is something actually meaningful they can do. Because whether they upload or don't upload a video, the people actually affected by this disaster couldn't care less.

Adding what stefan said. Delaying it is a sign of doing something meaningful. Its like saying "lets all focus on the people that have been affected by these through donations or by prayers around the world"

And im sure it wouldn't hurt to delay it. But not delaying it may face some backlash.

I just think it's weird as it's so unrelated, if cancelling the Direct is the right thing to do, then literally everything happening today should be cancelled out of respect, because it would all have as much relevance.

But regardless it certainly doesn't hurt to cancel it, and from the response of the vast majority, it was clearly the right decision.

Imo it would depend on culture to culture. I remember at past Nintendo e3. There was this singer that was supposed to come? (Not exactly sure) but she died recently. And they did pay some respect to her at the beginning of their e3 show.

The show didnt get cancelled since perhaps it would be hard to rearrange it another time.

Pocky Lover Boy!

From what I'm reading, the earthquake caused a lot of damage. It was bigger than I thought.
Btw, some are mentioning that part of the games could be announced or talked about this friday due to embargo being lifted.

Not sure, but isn't ND Cube (Mario Party) based near Hokkaido ?!
Clearly a needed sign of respect to what just happened there. First a typhoon and now this ...

Yeah they are. I hope that they are okay and their friends/family as well. It has been a really unfair summer for Japan.

8 people dead so far in that Earthquake it's a good move to delayed the ND as the damage dealt to Japan is a more serious matter.

I'm fine with the delay, just hoping that they don't delay it by a whole week. Either way, we have the PlayStation presentation to tide us over.

Nintendo is based in Japan, the Earthquake happened in Japan, from there it's self explanatory.

They're deciding not to pretend a huge disaster didn't just hit their country by releasing a happy go lucky video the same day it happened. Also we don't know, maybe Nintendo is gonna do something useful as well.

Apparently the new Yoshi-game is called Yoshi’s Crafted World.
