Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NBA 2K19 is now Switch’s biggest game (memory that game takes)

So then why doesn't the eshop, which is where you buy digital games in their entirety, not on a cart, say 31.5GB if the digital version is 37GB?

Is it usual for the eshop to give inaccurate listings?

think there is a misunderstanding here, the 5GB required on the internal storage is the save file required for the game. It's not uncommon for some games to have large files, I'm guessing the roster / stats / teams etc are all saved in this 5GB it's not an extra download but it is required to have the 5GB on the internal storage as that's the only place where game saves can be stored.

Minecraft was the largest save file I had to date, it comes in at 2GB per user save data, so if you play 4 player local on a Switch you'll need 4 accounts... and 8GB of storage space just for the items and inventory of the other players to join your worlds on the system.

That actually has sense, I already saw that NBA2K games have huge save files, so than game only really is around 32GB.

Hmmm, that is curious, 5GB is a lot of space just for save data.

At any rate, if this is on a 32GB cart, then it will be only the 2nd game on the system to use one I believe, after Dragon Quest Heroes.

Why bother with this game? It would fill up an entire Switch's inner memory and still need more space to function. Is optimization such a big problem nowadays? BotW and Mario Odyssey need way less to function.

You can get a 256gb SD card now for £61 which can store this game rather easily, and sure.... it's huge but then on PS4 you have the likes of Doom (73GB) Infinite warfare (95GB) or Black Ops 3 (101GB) any one of which eats up almost 1/5th of the base model PS4 storage.

Games are bigger now, so is storage and download speeds, a lot of people will "bother" with games this size and far larger.

I remember when I could store a bunch of save-files on a single floppy disc.

they're not really known for being good with size, if I recall the Wrestling games from them on the ps4 all had save files up and over a few GB listing the created wrestlers and content as the cause of it.

Those were the Good old days eh!

I still laugh at the fact that I could fill my first PC's HDD with my current net connection in about 5 minutes of downloading.

Someone have to explain this to me then:

Why do we have to download 32Go data with the physical version ?

because that is an empty box with a code in it... etched down the side of a massive middle finger that you can insert somewhere after 2k is finished with it.

That's tragic if it's true, more or less the same as the THPS5 disc's which just had the tutorial on the disc and the whole game required downloading.

Ugh, knew I was expecting too much of a third party to show a modicum of respect for consumers.
