Forums - Politics - Wil Wheaton, who ditched Twitter bc they didn't ban Alex Jones, gets banned from his new platform over censoring transgenders

People on the progressive side eat one another all the time.

Well, the first guy is a child actor from the ... 1990s, I guess?  The OP seems to think he's pretty important but I'm not sure why.  I find running commentary of social media drama for a quasi-celebrity to be very funny in a written-and-directed-by-Adam-Sandler kind of way.

I guess the real point of this is the second guy, a political entertainer that makes a living by creating controversy and getting his true believers worked into a lather.  Mr. Former Child Actor seems to have crossed Mr. Political Entertainer on social media, so the true believers are going after him.

Yeah, it's like a cascade of facepalms.

All I hear is Stewie saying "Wheel-Wheaton"

Sure you have some progressives call out other progressives for not being progressive enough.  But you also have a lot of internal conflicts within other political groups.

Well its a good thing you don't know about Alex Jones the guy has been completely  insane for over 10 years he good for a quick laugh though.  A picture of his I Phone recently showed that he was looking at tranny porn despite the fact that he is extreme tans and homophobic.  And when someone tried to asked him about it he gave a BS excuse that it magically popped up on his I Phone.

"despite the fact that he is extreme tans and homophobic"

any evidence for that?

and lets be real here, not calling a man with a penis a woman is now considered transphobia

Wil was very, very disappointed that Twitter didn't ban the hateful Alex Jones and had to move to more justice oriented platforms out of protest.

It's a real shame that Twitter's leadership doesn't seem to care about the hateful people it empowers, and enforces its own TOS so unevenly, giving preferential treatment to high profile people like Alex Jones, who have *clearly* broken that same TOS.

Well, Wesley got shut up quite fast on his new platform and failed to see the irony. Self-flagellation didn't help him either.

Anyway, take your victory lap and collect your prizes. You've made it clear that I'm not welcome here, and even though I disagree with the action this Admin is taking (banning me when I didn't break any rules doesn't seem right), I respect and support the Admin's decision to run their instance the way they see fit.

I have been notified by an Admin here that they are getting 60 reports a day about my account. As far as I can tell, I'm not breaking any rules, and I've done my best to be a good person here. But this admin is going to suspend my account.
This lie that I am anti-trans, or anti-LGBQ, is deeply hurtful to me (I know it's nothing like the pain LGBTQ people deal with every day, as they simply try to *exist* in a world that treats them so badly, but it is still hurtful in its own way to me). I just want to make it extremely clear: that is a lie, and the people spreading it are misinformed.
I know that I'm well-off, well-known, and as a CIS white hetro dude in America, I live life on the lowest difficulty setting. I know that I have very little to complain about.

(background: he used and promoted the GGautoblocker blocklist that censors those hateful Nazis... but that list contains some trannies as well and that was equated to spreading transphobia)

What we were promised

What we got

Do you think Wil will learn from that experience and be less trigger-happy about banning people? (I think not)

Wil did nothing wrong
Alex Jones is a scumbag that claims the government killed those in sandy hook and other mass shootings or worse claims it didnt happen and was staged
What is this gloating post for exactly?

So the admin got hit with 60 spammers and instead of dealing with the spammers, he took the easy way out and banned Wil.

And you somehow see that as the same thing that happened to Jones on Twitter?

Of course it's the same. Will Wheaton is a god and Alex Jones is a god to OP. Same thing.

Of course OP did not highlight the part where Will says that he respects the decision. Alex never said anything like that but it's the exact same anyway.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

So wanting to ban Alex Jones from Twitter is bad, but being happy about someone else being bad for (your words) the same reason as Alex is good? I'd ask how you can even look at yourself in a mirror but you probably don't see anything because the mirror is so far to the right that it already jumped out of your apartment and joined the KKK.
