Forums - Nintendo - Wii Launches in South Korea April 26

This from Kotaku:

Yeah, you read that right. Launches. Those Koreans who after 18 months sans official support still care, you have our sympathies. According to Nintendo Korea's website, the console will be getting its long-overdue debut on April 26, and will retail for 220,000 Won (USD$225), albeit individually: Wii Sports will be packaged and sold separately, and will launch alongside Zack & Wiki, Wii Play, Super Swing Golf and four more unannounced titles.

This might help explain a little bit of the shortage.  It's interesting that Nintendo has chosen to doput SSBB, MKWii, WiiFit, WiiWare, and a new territory launch so close together.  Of course, it is the new fiscal year and this might show how aggressive they intend to be this year.

Why would they want MORE FPS/RTS/MMO games? Those who play those games will probably prefer the PC versions if they would be available for Wii. I think the expanded audience is where the money is. Hasn't the DS sold like 1.5 million copies in South Korea?

And btw, YAY for Zack and Wiki. I hope it will sell a few thousand copies there.
