Germany has 100% free education and a very decent healthcare and social security system established. Germany reported a budget surplus of 25 billion Euro (28 billion USD).

Germans pay a flat 40% social security tax plus high income tax on top of that and a 19% sales tax.

USA is far more in debt than UK and other countries which have health car and education in their system so that's not really an argument against it.
