Jesus Christ. What a giant moron. IGN should probably stick to writers rather than YouTube personalities.
Edit: Just watched the video. The guy didn't even try.

It is, but the payment is usually pretty shitty. It's hard to achieve a decent income just by reviewing games and writing news about them and stuff. You will normally want to also write about other stuff. Personally I also write about the stock market and that's getting paid about 7 times (!) higher than my articles about gaming. The only reason why I even bother to write about gaming anymore is because of my personal passion for it, lol.

Yikes. I've been a fan of NVC for a long while, and it seemed Filip had finally settled into the whole livestream hosting/reviewing shindig. Apart from this debacle, he appeared to be doing a good job. After this, I think Filip's toast. IGN will have to fire him.
I watched the IGN review first before it was taken down, then saw Boomstick's comparison, and yeah there's no mistaking that plagiarism took place.
I think it's particularly bad because IGN gave Dead Cells such a high score. A review so close to 10 should have gained a lot more scrutiny than most reviews - so it says something bad about IGN's broader journalistic practice. I think the case here is just that the reviewer got lazy and/or overwhelmed and didn't have a fully written review done in time. It's a shame because I think someone else at IGN could have easily filled in to write a great review if Filip was just too busy.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
What annoys me is that employees at IGN that have nothing to with what happened since it's all on Filip are recieving backlash. Somebody even went after Alanah who doesn't even work at IGN anymore.
But my sympathies go especially out to the poor guys having to deal with jokes and hate about their recent reviews on IGN because of this.

IGN writers should be used to jokes by now, they've had to listen to the occasional "too much water, 8/10" jokes for the past several years. Controversy should blow over after a few weeks, if they have good senses of humor they should be able to make it through a few weeks of jokes. |
Mostly yes just jokes, but I know it's possible jokes can be taken the wrong way. It'll be fine in the long run of course, but it felt like Max at IGN was little bit bothered.

OK, he's being a bit of a snowflake. Yeah, you got copied. So what? Have you never copied a classmate in school? You're an adult now, it's a bit shameful to be going online to ask for advice about something like this. You got your review out weeks earlier, that should be victory enough.
IGN has been lacking the past few years. Often you'll read an IGN article that's almost entirely quoting off Kotaku's article.

Yeah no, he has all the rights in the world to complain. He worked to make a good review to upload on his channel and another guy, who is paid to write reviews as opposed to him, blatantly copied his review and uploaded it on IGN's channel, where it would've gained thousands of additional views as opposed to those of Boomstick Gaming's video as well as decreasing the number of views on the original: if we didn't find out about him copying the review people who looked up "Dead Cells Review" would find instantly IGN's review and after seeing it they might decide not to watch any other, harming the original.

Are you paid by the article?
