It may be that they have some new characters/stages to show for Smash but also because of the E3 Smash overload that pissed a few off, maybe this time it will be the exact opposite. From being a "Surprise" Direct ending up almost exclusively about Smash to a Smash direct which actually contains some other completely unexpected big game reveals. That would be awesome and would make up for the anti Climax the E3 direct ended up being.

It's like you enjoy being disappointed.

Well it's Nintendo so you never know. They love to surprise us in both bad and good ways!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Unless they have a decent amount of new characters to reveal, I feel like we've already seen more than enough of Smash.

Nah we havent seen anything yet. We seen basics of the game and we know all characters coming back. There could be plenty new stuff shown off here. Mostly modes and a single player

There is only one announcement I could think of at this point that would disappoint me: Smash Tour being the primary 'singleplayer' mode, with no subspace emissary or adventure mode to speak of.

HHonestly, I hated both smash tour and Smash Run on WiiU and 3DS. Played each mode a handful of times and never played it again. If Smash Ultimate requires me to play to unlock characters, they better not rely too heavily on some terrible mode like that.

Between all the characters, all the stages we know about, and the subtle gameplay changes, the game could come out tomorrow without any new levels or fighters or modes and I'd still be happy. I just love smash.

To be fair Smash Run, as flawed as it was, had several good ideas. With a few key changes it could go on to become an actually very fun mode. Smash Tour, however, well, might as well not talk about that.

I think they were mostly just seen as trash in my eyes because they were nothing compared to subspace emissary. I loved that mode and to this day one of my greatest gaming memories is going through all of that mode on launch day with a buddy of mine. Fifteen hours! One go!

Yeah, but... no. They've never gonna announce something not Smash-related in a Smash Direct.

Idk why but i'm just expecting a "and 1 more last thing"  moment.

specifically they won't do it if they haven't said it, just like in the ARMS Direct when they announced some details about Splatoon 2
