Anyway, going on current sales, I reckon the total sales for each handheld will be at the end of the year. Nintendo DS - 58m More like 65million, I'd say. They had only shipped 40 million units through the end of March, and now sit at 43 million. That's a rate of 30 million units a year, based on doing half their business in Nov/Dec. So they should reach 50 million before the holidays, and then sell 15 million during the holidays.

You reckon they will sell 22m DS's before the end of this year.....now thats ridiculous.....!!!

They are selling well....but not that well.  I reckon 15m til the end of this year is more realistic...but if it does sell a fair bit more than 15m....then it's something else altogether!

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

I'm pretty sure FF7BC is a game for mobile phones. I'm also pretty sure that even Square Enix doesn't have so much love for Sony that they'd give PSP 2 FF7 games and none for DS. I reckon end sales will be DS at 100 million and PSP at 40 million. Sony themselves have projected 9 million sales this year, I think down from 12 million the previous year.

Well, you are just wrong. :)

This was missed by most websites, but not Next-Gen.Biz. In their "Square Enix Party 2007" post they wrote that Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis has been announced for the Sony PSP:

"Originally released on Japanese mobile phones, this cute little action-RPG set in the popular FFVII world will finally find its true audience when it's released on PSP..."

Sales of psp will grow up, after All BIG games are released.

I don't get how Pokemon could still be so popular, yet nobody speaks of it... Ever...

The PSP could get a much needed revitalization with the redesign, depending how they do it. Longer battery life should be a no-brainer, maybe better buttons, if possible reduce the size without affecting the screen, maybe even a better screen? It is definitely a console experience on-the-go, which is why it is so different and attracts a different crowd than those who get the DS.

No way the DS will sell THAT many units. I believe the DS and PSP will crest next year, then slowly die down with a PSP2 in 2010, and a DSA in maybe 2011. Sales WILL die down at some point. A new PSP could really cut into DS sales if the DS got weak like the Gameboy and Gameboy color did at the end of their lives. Will the PSP/DS sell well till the next itenerations come out? Yes. But Handhelds have a much odder lifespan. The GBA was doing pretty good (I thought) till the DS came out. Heck, the GBA is still selling 20k units a week in the US, despite the DS being out for more than 2 years.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The DS will start to reach it's peak sales rate after there are a dozen good games for the wii that will allow you to use the DS as the controller. Right now, we only have one DS in our household (my daughter's). My wife borrows it fairly often, and I play it occationally. However, I can see us needing 3 in the future to work with the wii...

um.... my kids love pokemon....kids still like it. I would image some people still play it that played red and blue too.

Is there going to be another Gameboy ever or Game boy is dead now?

That would make me sad, however with the insane success of the DS I'm not seeing a reason for Nintendo to release another gameboy.
