Lol there's that too.

Thought that would be. Yeah that's true. If you're fine with what you have and don't juggle between games the internal storage will be enough for most.

On there they did say that 5.5Gb/s or higher is recommended and a heatsink of some sorts. There's also a disclaimer that in some rare instances some games might experience some performance issue but this is still beta and will interesting to see how it fares from peoples testings/previews. It does sounds like all PCIe 4 drives will work, its just the matter of how well.

Exactly, basically you`ll get a performance depending on how much you are willing to fork on your NVMe.

I had bought 3 or 4TB for My PS4 and had load of games installed, but once it dropped on the ground and instant death. I just had to start downloading what I wanted to play next so it was ready when I finished what I had and delete what I finished. But I don`t have many games I play at once (have like 2 or 3 because of family) so being able to download the next 4 games I want to play is plenty for me.

Yeah, in this case you'd probably want to find the fastest Gen4 drive. Idd, with smaller game sizes as well that 825GB goes a long way. Even with Astrobot installed you can fit a lot of games on the internal drive like 5-6 if not more big AAA titles. Plus in a way you can think of it as an incentive to play and complete games and go for trophies lol.

On another note..

Digital Foundry has just put up a recommendation list for SSD/heatsinks for PS5 - https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-best-ssds-for-ps5

DF made a list of SSDs that should work with the ps5,

The main problem seems to be the heatsink size. While most SSDs will work, some won't due to the heatsink that they come with.

And DF should be part of Beta Testers and give us preview soon enough.

Will PS5 support M2-SSD and an external drive (SSD or HDD for PS4 games) at the same time or do we have to choose?

PS4 and PS4 Pro only allow one extension, Xbox One S/X and Series S/X at least two, probably more.

Considering the M2 is internal, I guess it would accept one external as well, but Sony makes some odd decision sometimes.

The Director at Insomniac Games says that NVMe's should perform identically to the internal SSD

Lower end Gen 4 drives that don't meet the spec (I'm assuming 4-5GB/s ones) load up to 15% slower

New update sounds beefy. Very good!

Looks like Cerny himself likes the SN850 as the PS5's secondary SSD!
