Demon's Souls Remake was 70 bucks and it had virtually no gameplay changes (There was some smoother animation making it FEEL nicer when in reality the actual gameplay remained unchanged) and that game got a 92 on metacritic and reportedly sold well.

The Last of Us is an even more critically hailed title with even better sales. It'll do fine. Y'all don't need to argue about what you do and don't feel is fair. games are a luxury. companies are gonna charge whatever they think they can. Period. Much as I hate it, that's the core concept of capitalism. Getting angry about companies charging too much isn't gonna make them change their mind (With few exceptions). Not buying it will, though. They say speak with your wallet. That's really the last word that needs to be said on the matter.

I, for instance, find it absolutely moronic that Atlus is charging full price for Persona 5 on PS5. I think it's a stupid business decision because not many people will buy it. But I'm not angry about it. They're just a game company testing to see what they can charge. just like when they rereleased Persona 5 Royal. That should have been DLC and everyone knows it. I only got it when it was cheap (like I think 20 bucks?). Getting angry about it makes us all look childish, petty, and entitled.

We shouldn't be acting like every bad business decision is in some way unethical and in need of punishment. Ethics don't really exist when it comes to pricing luxury items like videogames. IT's not essential, so they charge what they want and you get to decide whether you think it's worth it or not. Simple. their job is to make money, your role as consumer is to make that personal decision on whether you think it's worth it. Trying to turn it into some 'this company is greedy/evil because they're charging something I don't feel is worth it' just makes a lot of gamers look like entitled brats.

And keep in mind I don't even LIKE The Last of Us. I'm not trying to defend naughty dog or pretend The Last of Us transcends ethics in the industry or something. I actively dislike the game. My point is that it's incredibly exhausting to see people overreacting to everything because gamers on the whole lack perspective and don't know how to respond accordingly.

And yes, I know I was once just as bad. It's called growing up.

Gaming is my favourite hobby/medium by a wide margin. But you know what? there's a reason I hardly ever play online games. Way too many gamers are toxic and terrible people I just don't want to play with. Oddly enough, the souls community is one of the only gaming groups I haven't come to despise being around. They are one of the most wholesome, pleasant, helpful groups I've ever seen despite the reputation some of them get for the 'git gud' meme. The rest of the gaming medium? Immature brats for the most part. Folks with no filter and no perspective. Not all, of course, but enough to really paint the community as a whole in a pretty venomous manner.

I say that the only advantage Demons have over TLOU in comparison is that the performance really needed the improvement and the graphics were really upped a lot, compared to TLOU that the remaster was already on a good enough quality. But yes your point certainly stand.

Yeah, but bluepoint specifically said they chose to not mess with or alter the game's feel. for every performance improvement (such as the framerate), there were adaptations so that every swing had the same hitbox and timing, every roll had the same amount of invincibility time, etc. The game is virtually identically while looking prettier; that made it fEEL fresher (and man I loved it), but for all intents and purposes the game was identical to its original.

TLoU has some minor gameplay tweaks. Similar to what we see here if not more.

IF you don't think that's worth the money (not you, just the royal 'you' meaning everyone), don't buy it. PS exclusives go on sale within 6 months. Either wait for a sale or shut up and stop whining. If it matters enough that you want it NOW, then you'll pony up the dough. If you don't think it's worth it, then wait. You don't get to simultaneously declare your right to the game NOW while also complaining about the price. Either pay the price now or wait a few months and get it later, nobody is entitled to whatever price they deem appropriate now/immediately. That's just business.

I do think there are several cases that design choice of preserving the original feel should be respected. Although in the case of TLOU I would prefer the gameplay to be like Part 2 which I enjoyed more.

Since i paid full price for Persona 5, I boycotted Persona 5 Royal not being a paid dlc to the base game.  After playing Persona 5 Strikers for free as a monthly ps+ game and enjoying it I finally decided to buy Royal premium edition when it was on sale for $17.  Beat it about 4 months ago and really enjoyed, it but yeah no chance I buying the ps5 version of Royal again.

Atlus is know for this jerky things... and there will be people defending that Royal wasn't a DLC...

Yeah, especially that only Persona 5 Royale got PS4 Pro support, the normal version stayed at 1080p and PS4 performance.

Technical performance and graphic is a weakness of Atlus imho.

Deviations getting more CoD talent.

At this point, they have to be making a FPS. And I really hope it's something special. Sony definitely must have eyes on this studio.

I'm almost sure Sony have a deal with them to purchase the dev if they meet some targets, which can be done even before release of said game, as happened to that other studio lead by a female veteran (sorry I didn't memorized the name of the studio or dev, depending on what they release I may remember =p).

Definitely. I’m looking forward to Soul Hackers 2 for sure, but, I can’t say the game doesn’t look 2 generations old but art direction makes up a lot for that. Persona 5 oozes style and glamorous art direction that makes the game timeless. The biggest issue with Atlus games that I have is their business strategies.

True, their business choices is one I usually disagree a lot. I like the "hand drawn" animation in their games though

Sony is going to have had an insanely packed year! How would you rate PlayStation's 2022?

Taking the new PS+ out of the equation, just on releases there's been:

Console

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Gran Turismo 7
MLB The Show 22
Horizon Forbidden West
The Last of Us Part I
God of War: Ragnarok

PC

God of War (2018)
Spider-Man Remastered
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (SteamDB has it listed at October 19th)
The Last of Us Part I (Questionable for this year but Senior Naughty Dog employee claiming PC version would release "very soon" after PS5 release) I'm guessing December?

That's an insane number of titles releasing in a single year.

Lol fair enough. Just pointing out the Sony published games for the year.
