Rumor - The Last of Us remake and Factions nearly finished according to Video Games Chronicle writer. Can't wait to replay this masterpiece!

True lots of people groaning about the remake yet I can see it totally blowing minds especially if its PS5 only. Updated models maps and assets from TLOU 2 and possibly updated controls and mechanics from the second game. Plus all the standard PS5 stuff like DualSense and 3D audio jazz. Also timing makes perfect sense since the show is also coming next year too.

2022 is shaping up to be a crazy year. Assuming we have this, GoW Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West in the same year. Alongside GT and other big games like Elden Ring, Hogwarts and Gotham Knights. Also FFXVI being a possibility.

For the amount of money Sony is paying SE for FF16, FF7R1 and most likely part 2 plus Forspoken any other future IP they are interested in, they're better off just buying SE as a whole and be done with it. That way all of Square's big IP's including DQ, Tomb Raider etc would be owned by Sony and they get their Western studios as well.  In the same way that Bethesda fits best with Microsoft overall, Imo I believe Square Enix fits best with Sony.

I really like FF so I at least its exclusive to PS not Xbox.

Never played the Chrono games or Parasite on PS1, but would bite their remakes. Even Dino Crisis I would likely give a chance now.

It seems to me that ppl against the remake either:

(a) think Sony/ Naughty Dog are wasting time that could be used for another game - they aren't though.

(b) seem to have graphics nostalgia goggles for the first game - its' not as great as they recall (but not a bad looking game either)

Like you said,  it's not just updated graphics and animation that will make the game look better, it's also the improved gameplay that turns TLoU1 from good enough to top of class. That'll have to mean that we get the best-in-class AI update, and the accessibility options alone would be fantastic. 

I am curious if they try to adapt VR into the game. There was that leaked info from PSVR2 that suggested Sony wanted AAA games to be able to be played bot traditionally and with VR. Even if just 3rd person, VR could be an extra neat addition.

I think the ROI for exclusives (timed/ full) makes better financial sense, especially when there are parts of SE that have no real business in Sony's portfolio. 

I agree on preferring a new IP instead of a remake of TLOU since it is a very recent game, but perhaps it won`t even impact new IP and the remake uses small number of people.

Nice yeah there's something about mainline releases of FF on PS consoles that feels special (and usually are). Outside of FFXV which I did not like, like at all. XVI looks to be a return to form for the series, with its setting and all and I'm definitely hyped for it. Also, by the time it releases there should be a bigger library of games for it and you can probably get some good deals on them.

I personally bought a PS5 because of GoW: Ragnarok but also highly anticipating FF XVI too and other games from the likes of Naughty Dog.

Yeah, I personally did like FFXV but even I have many reservations about that game.
