I believe Twenty Bucks for it is a really good price. That and being that it is the first game within its story of the series, really is the perfect entry point to see if you'll like it enough to play the others.
Here's the Angry Joe review. Sorry I don't know how to embed video.

(crosses fingers and presses the Post Quick Reply button)How do I make youtube videos show up in this forum? I know how to make an image show by adding [ plus img plus ] and finishing with [ plus / plus img plus], but how to do it with youtube videos?

Use this url instead -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1cFBtr-ryU&feature=youtu.be

I had the same problem before. It's really sensitive about which urls you use for some reason.

I bought that bundled offer with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life as a preorder and included Yakuza 0 to play with purchase. I proceeded to play Yakuza 0 right away but I only got about half way through it by the time that Yakuza 6 released and with much excitement I turned to playing 6: The Song of Life instead. Holy SMOKES! That Yakuza 6 game was AWESOME! The story was super addicting and gameplay was so engrossing that I couldn't put it down trying to play through to the ending. I had so much fun, and I whole kindheartedly recommend picking up Yakuza 6. Especially if a person wants to cut playing that large amount of time required with playing the entire Yakuza series and instead wants to only play just one game instead. Just play Yakuza 6 and you'll understand, it includes enough backstory to understand it all.

If you want to play this then buy it. If not then don't. Did that work?

I would throw these on the trash: "Tales of Berseria, Attack of Titan, Atelier Firis" and get it.

I didn't wanted to post this review because it spoils so much, if I had watched it before playing the game it would have killed half of the fun of the game.

I bought it earlier this year and I've not even played it yet, my PS4 backlog currently consists of 40+ physical games, around 20 of those are 50+ hours rushed (According to HowLongToBeat), and there's still plenty of other games I want to/will buy... just do it!

One of the "fears" I have after buying 0 is that I might have feel compelled to buy the others in the franchise.

You will. I got compelled after playing the game for 10 hours. Kiwami? Bought and playing. Kiwami 2? Pre-ordered. 3/4/5 (remasters) pre-ordered.

It's the best in the franchise. The story is engaging and you learn how Majima became the ... well the way he is. It also builds on the backstory of pretty much every yakuza character in the franchise, living or dead, which makes this a great game to start with in the franchise even if you didn't play any of the others. (it's the prequel). The combat system is the best in the franchise. The real estate business side quests for Kiryu and the Cabaret manager side quests for Majima are great and the rewards for completing them make it well worth it.

If you like the sub stories you'll get a kick out of the typical and quirky sub stories you are familiar with from earlier games.

The loading times and the flow of the game is seemless between main and non main missions.

If you are trophy collector, The platinum isn't terribly difficult just time consuming.

FYI Yakuza Kiwami is completely recycled from Yakuza 0. While I consider Yakuza 0 the best in the franchise, Yakuza Kiwami is one of my greatest purchase regrets this year. It's lazy and rehashed mechanics make it the rbastard child of 0. Don't get me started at how gritty, boring, and repetitive the Majima everywhere quests get. And the car chase mission on legend difficulty is so brokenly difficult. HOLY SHIT i hate yakuza Kiwami.

How? We don't even have confirmation of western releases yet, and know nothing of 4-5 yet, right? o.O

They're all confirmed for PS4 JP if you check the wiki. 3-5 aren't confirmed for the west yet, but it'll help if people keep buying the games.

Stop buying games. Whats the point of buying and then not playing? Games are not going away suddenly. Unless you just want to collect something. then go ahead.

I assumed with you being from NZ you'd buy English copies of the game and not preorder Japanese copies, lol

I haven't pre-ordered any of them, but maybe the other guy is fluent in Japanese?

Just saying it'll help if people keep buying the new ones that get localised, like Yakuza 2 in August
