Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NPD: Switch software sales in May delivering the highest software revenues for any Nintendo platform in May since 2011.

In all honesty thinking about it it's probably not *that* impressive. That means it had a better May than the 3DS or Wii U had in the US, and 3DS was never really a juggernaut platform in the US, it was fairly rare to ever even see two 3DS games ever in the top 10 NPD at the same time. Wii U ... well uh we know how that went.

And software being up YoY from last year makes logical sense, there were only like 12-15 retail releases total for the Switch this time last year. There's easily much more software available now and the userbase should be double-triple where it was a year ago. Software should be up by double.

Just sayin'.

Um 90% is basically double, fyi.

Also as stated it does not include digital, which every year is increasing, so it likely is double.

As for last year. The switch had both BotW and Mario Kart 8 deluxe out for April NPD. Those are some big hitters.

Dark Souls Remastered floped. Devine justice acting well.

Its not out yet

I've certainly upped my spending on the device. I have to fight the urge to spend sometimes.

90% increase not counting digital basically is double. If digital sales were included, it would probably be around 100-110%. So, it's likely more than double.

That is very impressive!

Just sayin'.

That's cool and all but hold on a second:
“Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Nintendo Switch all achieved all-time unit sales highs for a May month,” said Piscatella. “Previous highs were May 2016 for PlayStation 4, May 2015 for Xbox One, and May 2017 for Switch.”
This is a weird quote because didn't the leaks put numbers for Switch DOWN vs last May?

No, its something like 167k (this May) vs 165k.

But the leak posted as closest to official numbers was 195k or just under 200k.  For last May that is.

No, 165k is last May.

NPD sucks really, really hard. The metric that should be used is unit sales, not revenue.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.
