Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4: God Of War On Track To Be The Fastest Game To Reach 1 Billion Views On youtube

That's a bloody long title:

Since its release on April 20, data analyst Matchmade reports that God of War amassed 728 million views on YouTube by the end of the month. If it maintains its momentum on the platform, it'll be on track to break 1 billion views by June or July, making it the fastest game to reach the milestone in YouTube history.

Fortnite is currently the most-watched game on YouTube, overtaking Minecraft in March, and topped 1 billion views five months after launch, and three months after the release of battle royale.

God of War's popularity has translated to impressive numbers across the board. It was the best-selling game in April, the fastest-selling PS4 exclusivewith 3.1 million copies sold in just three days, and sold over 5 million copies in its first month.

You can see what all of the fuss is about in our glowing review, and you can check out our complete walkthrough if you're still travelling the world with your boy in tow.

The PS5 Exists.

Don't single-player games tend to drop off in viewership after a few months compared to online-focused games? Was that taken into account?

Yeah weird milestone while games like MC had 5 billion views for several months(years?).

Wow, why did no one post in this thread? It’s a lot more interesting than the post count implies ha.

OT:  This is quite impressive, especially for a single player game on a SINGLE system. I hope GoW continues to have amazing legs. It’s possibly my favorite game of all time.

Fastest compared to what though? Sounds cool either way. Sony ought to bundle it with a special edition GoW themed PS4 at a good discount for the holidays.

yeah the amount of people that will watch it instead of play it will be quite big. just like every other god of war game.

I hope it hits 12+ million mark. hopefully 15 but thats too hopeful.

There are people that will watch to learn strategy on a particular boss or finding collectibles and stuff.

I’ve personally watched a TON of videos about GoW, despite finishing it weeks ago. Never done that before for a game. There are so many awesome videos about GoW, including interviews with Cory Barlog explaining things about the story and game that players may have missed. He’s such a cool, down to earth, smart dude.

I just got into watching GoW videos on YouTube again this weekend, and I think I went through another 15. Wondering when my saturation point will occur. I just love so much about this game.

oh okay, that is interesting and crazy : D

#single-player games are the best!
