Ok if the wii is this powerhouse of a console, then how do explain why Mario kart wii doesnt look as good as mario kart on the Gamecube?

Edited your post because you couldn't find any screens where MKWii looked worse than MKDD I see. Well don't worry, I was kind enough to grab a comparison for you...

Mario Kart Double Dash

Mario Kart Wii

, I cant post, but if you read any previews instead of posting ridiculasly biased pics, you would know that WII mario kart does not look as good as its GC predeccesor.

WHy would nintendo make it look worse?

I didn't see the "until" part. My bad. Yet it will still be interesting to see what happens.

Since you and I are the only ones discussing this part of the topic, do you think it can be done? I have my reservations that this licensee or any other will successfully do it. It would be nice for them to succeed though. It still leaves it up in the air that even if one licensee is successful, if the next one will be. Epic has already stated they will not create a usable UE3 for the Wii, so each licensee would have to figure it out for themselves.

Do you think the Wii can take over as lead platform on many multiplatform games with the hurdles of UE3 on Wii and the fact that the engine is so popular to use? I mean for christ sakes even Square is using it. I just can't see the Wii taking lead platform over many multiplats unless UE3 is made available by Epic as a usable option for the Wii at the time of licensing.

The fact is you are using unconfirmed specs for the Wii, and even if the specs that we believe are correct, are in fact correct, they are still more powerful than the Xbox, simply because newer technology is more efficient and faster than older technology. A Pentium 3 processor at 500MHz is faster than a Pentium 2 processor at 500MHz, same with Pentium 3 to Pentium 4s. I wish I could find the comparisons that showed this, but alas google is failing me tonight. Yuo can't just look at numbers and make a fair and complete comparison. It just doesn't work.

Further, the two systems use different architectures. You can't compare them directly number for number because it isn't the same kind of technology. Look up the system requirements for PC/Mac games to see what I am talking about. There is a noticeable difference because the tech doesn't function identically.

Ridiculously biased pics? I made a conscious effort to get pics with lots of detail and a good view of the characters from both games, from the same website, AND in the native resolution. You're just crying cause you made up some total bullshit and got busted for it.

Well if the developer figures it out, they could just make a deal with Epic to license the Wii version to other developers.

It's still up in the air how it will work, so for now, I'm just waiting.

Is it any wonder some of us want to see a game made for the HD consoles ported to the Wii? Aside from Wii owners getting to try such a game, if a real effort is tried, we can see the results, and well see the results.

RE4 is about as good a comparison between the PS2 and GC as you can get (roughly same texture resolution, but better colors and polygons on the GC), so one to truly compare the Wii to the HD consoles would be the best way to settle this.

Better texture quality

Dynamic Lights

More polygons

Shadders (TEV unit in the GC)

Stable framerate

Res: 480 GC vs 240 PS2

It would be nice to see the limits of the Wii

Almost. Texture resolution is the same. I looked. A lot. This is because the texture compression, that the GC had and the PS2 lacked, is color based, so the systems could use the same texture resolution, but the Ps2 had to really cut back the color depth.

And the resolution is higher on the PS2, because it actually has a larger frame buffer and more pixel pipelines. That is why the PS2 version has widescreen, while the GC is the actual one with 240 vertical resolution.

Finally, the GC version does have framerate issues, just slightly less than on the PS2.

Would you like to give a couple of links???, the E3 reports of that year pointed the opposite (Capcom made a promess about given more textures in exchange of the lack of quality of the texts in the PS2 version)... (I´m looking for them, but so far I have only found spanish comments about that)

I can't really link. Just get both versions if you don't have them yet (or the Wii version in lieu of the GC version), and run around looking at same items with any zoom scope. Some items have a lower polygon count, but the texture resolution is the same. I practically made my eyes blurry to confirm it.

And the screen resolution should be obvious, since the GC version was the one without widescreen support, and the PS2 and Wii versions do.

If the GC version could even handle a higher resolution, then why was it leterboxed, instead of at least full screen. The thing is that the PS2 lacked texture resolution, but that wasn't needed for the frame buffer, which is 50% larger than the GC's frame buffer.

The pics are biased now, are they? What, do they call you names?

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Is it just me or have we had these threads before, and i think we had the same posters in those that we have in this thread. I'm pretty sure Fazz said that the wii might be possible to have games better looking then some of the PS3/360 games.

Let's face it. God himself couldn't settle this. Okay, maybe an omnipotent being could, but not without usurping our free will.

EDIT: I mean a supreme being could appear, tell us exactly how the systems compare, and some would still disagree.
