I'm taking the quote slightly out of context because he said it was possible because the game was more cartoony , regardless of the artistic style the PS3 and 360 are still capable of superior visuals. To make it clear to everyone (including myself) could anyone with the knowledge explain how big the gap between the Wii and PS3/360 is , some are making it seem like it's similar to the gap betwen the GC/XBOX and ps2 when it clearly isn't.

I have to say there are a few things wrong with this post... First, nothing has "next gen graphics", since "next gen" is still another 5 to 6 years away (or more). Second, it's not unexpected that the platform on which the game is mostly like to sell the most is the lead platform, because they would want the game to be the best on that system. It's like most games were made on the PS2, then ported to the other consoles, even though the GC and Xbox could handle much better graphics and effects, because the PS2 version was most likely (and I believe without exception, always) the system that was going to sell the most of a game. Games that didn't lead on the PS2 and were ported from the GC/Xbox (RE4 I believe is one example, and the only one that comes to mind), often took framerate hits or had other problems (like I believe I've read that RE4 PS2 had some minor framerate issues).
And saying that you won't buy multiplayform games that lead on the Wii is pretty shallow. Yeah the graphics probably won't be as great as they could be, but I still have a hard time telling between good PS3/360 graphics and great ones. Course, that's the reason that console makers want to be the best selling console, because then most games will be made for it, and made to take advantage of all of it's features. But it's more likely that games that are multiplatform, will have an engine built for the Wii, and also an engine will be built for the 360/PS3, to take advantage of the platforms strengths.
As for the power differences, I do believe it's likely that the difference between the PS2 and Wii is similar to the difference between the Wii and the 360/PS3.
Considering that most devs have separate teams that work on Wii and PS3/360 versions of games; I doubt the Wii would be the "lead platform" for anything other than its own version.
I think we should have this conversion once all three come out.
As far as pure power differences between them, I think the PS3 and 360, more so the PS3, but let's not make a flame war over it, is quite a bit more powerful.
Nothing like Gears of War could be done on the Wii.
The Wii is very good at cell shading. This game uses a lot of it (because the Wii is good at it). When you make a game that takes advantage of what the console is good at, it's going to look great.
The PS3/360 can match or beat everything visually that the Wii can do. The Wii however, can not match the PS3 or 360 at the games that take advantage of what they do well. Uncharted, and Gears 2 could not be done in the Wii
This game looks great because the developers were smart about there approach, not because the hardware is on the same level.
This thread is insane. It's not just about raw processing power.(Of which wii is about 4 times behind PS3/360) But also the capability of effects available which is handled via GPU. Such as lighting, shadowing, textures and the like. Here the HD consoles are capable of far more than the wii. also HD is capable of far more colours than SD. Lets not make wii something it's not. wii is good at what it does. It's not a graphics machine.

What WoW sayed :)
Vote the Mayor for Mayor!
The law of diminishing return, just because the 360/ps3 may be 4 times more powerful dont mean the games look 4 times better.
-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-
The Xbox360 may be as much as 10 times more powerful than the Wii. 723mhz powepc vs 3ghz tricore powerpc. Im just looking at it roughly. Also from what i've heard, the GPU is only between 1.5-2* more powerful than the gamecubes one. The gpu only clocks at 243mhz also.
But as the person above said, the law of diminishig returns does apply. I think also multicore processing hasn't evolved to the point where a developer can easily pull out 100% of the performance of a multicore CPU.
Tease.
. We will have separate development branches for 360/PC/PS3 and Wii/Ps2 for a while. 360/PC/PS3 all have modern graphic cards (by Nvidia or ATI) with 256 MB video ram and very important actual shader technology. The Wii has neither. If I remember it correctly it doesn't even have a proper pixel shader pipeline (even the XBOX had one). That doesn't mean that the Wii cannot do most things PS3/360 can (albeit worse) but it needs a different approach. So no the Wii will never be the lead platform for a Wii/PS3/360 multiplatform game(which is successful on PS3/360).
Call of Duty 5 is supposed to ship on the Wii... Maybe then, we will finally get a multiplatform game that uses all of the power of 360 and PS3 to compare to the Wii...
To date, I haven't seen any games that are multiplatform, actually try and use the extra power in 360 and PS3.
I wouldn't doubt the Wii is often the lead platform in multi-platform games because if the Wii can do it the other two systems won't have a problem at all.
