Forums - Sales - An X-mote Opinion Thread: By Zenfoldor

Strange my recollection is different from some other people's. I did say for example that I didn't care for the Wii remote but my biggest problem with the Wii is with the games themselves which I feel many developers are simply being lazy with. When most of the games on the Wii look noticeably inferior to games on the Gamecube then I think that says a lot. I think Nintendo itself is even guilty of it as well. For example can anyone honestly say that Nintendo tried hard or even made any kind of effort with the graphics in Mario Kart Wii?

As for the controller you can see where I'm in support of it and I do hope that Microsoft does bring one out, markets it well, and tries hard to create an experience that isn't available on any other console.

Anyways it's too bad that this thread turned into a console bashing one, I would think that Nintendo fans would like other companies coming in with similar remotes and giving Nintendo some competition in the "ocean" it currently has to itself. Competition always brings out the best and should only be seen as a good thing.

What I really want ti more gaming innovation... I like all three consoles, but I only have one because of money. the thing of a console trying to "imitate" another one's success is not good for the industry. Each console needs it's own identity and an unique approach towards gaming.

Microsoft nailed it with Xbox live, something that Sony could never match. Nintendo decided to use a few things and add another ones but keeping different from MS system. And Sony is using the idea folder@home (correct me if I'm wrong please) that is appealing and home is a great thing.

Different approaches is what the industry needs... and there are more ways to get the "casual" audience than just a remote like controller

Sony and MS need to think outside the box. How about something more creative, like a Midi interface? Imagine if the PS3 or 360 could interface with real electronic instruments. Sony owns the rights to Acid, so they could implement some type of mixing/DJ game.

I would be all over that as long as it had a "game" aspect and not just mixing software.  I already use mixing software that i love.

Mil. Sellers:

Wii:      25 titles       101.4 mil total    avg 4 mil per title

PS3:     14 titles      28.6 mil total    avg ~2 mil per title

360:     41 titles      89.8 mil total   avg  >2 mil per title

@ZenfoldorVGI's question to me: Making as much of an educated guess as I can, based on Microsoft's history thus far, I'd say the controller would be sold separately, seeing as they seem to like making money on accessories. Also, they might make "Arcade" style bundles, including a base system with the controller and possibly a title that takes advantage of the controls (like Wii with Wii Sports), intended for the more casual market, but I don't see them abandoning the original 360 controller. Forcing people to adopt a new controller, just to play future games would piss alot of consumers off, and we can admit we consumers are rabid and on the edge, lol.

They need a duck hunt style gun with a grenad attachment with more buttons or dual weilding pistols or the ultimate guitar hero BR assault rifle.
