BMaker,
Besides Mario Party (which Hudson/Ninty DO abuse) name other 1st party games that Ninty sh*t's out yearly?
How many console Mario platformers have been released since Mario 64?
How many console Zelda games since Ocarina?
How many console Metroid games in the last 15 years?
How many console Kirby games in the last 10 years?
That's what I thought.
As far as shovelware from third party's, PSx & PS2 say hello:
PS2:
PSX:

The Wii is getting some quality to mediocre third-party exclusives, I am just saying they are few and far between. Check out IGN if you don't believe me yourself: http://wii.ign.com/index/release.html |
I checked out Metacritic instead, read my above post. PS "Bob the Builder"? That's HIGH quality gaming, woo hoo!
Ugh, these threads always end up exactly the same. I would lock it but if I did that two more would pop up in its place and then I'd get the added bonus headache of people bitching that their thread was locked.
Get this straight people: all consoles have good games. It doesn't matter if to you if I like x game better than y game and it doesn't matter that I think whatever games are quality or not. Don't let people on the internet get to you because they absolutely do not matter.

I COMPLETELY agree! 360 had an amazing 2007, Wii & PS3 have great lineups in 2008.
It just makes me laugh when PS fanboys call shovelware without looking at the PS libraries massive amount of it as well. The fact is the most succesful console will always be the one winning the shovelware war. Period.
XBox & the 360 have shovelware but not NEARLY as much as Ninty or PS, and MS has never won a round of the console war. PSX had a lot & PS2 had the most of last generation (IMHO). Now the Wii is winning, and suprise, and bunch of people try to cash in on it's success. It's as simple as that.
Wii 1st party is quality so far... 3rd party exclusives are quantity not quality...
PS3 1st party are a mix of mostly quality over quantity... 3rd party exclusives so far have not been great... That will change with MGS4.
360 1st party are a mix of mostly quality over quantity... 3rd party exclusives have been a mix of quality and quantity so far...
The console with the largest userbase will always get the greatest amount of shovelware, just as the biggest pile of shit always draws the most flies. These are companies only concerned with making a quick buck by selling to the least demanding, or most clueless, gamers. It's not something to boast of per se, but it is a general indicator of overall success.
The relevent question, I think, is not how many exclusives total, but how many exclusives would other consoles really like to have?
I think there's little doubt that MS and Sony would love to have games like Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros, but not so much WiiPlay. OTOH, I think it fair to say Nintendo would love to have titles like RE5 and GTA4, but probably not Lair. But who has the more of these exclusives than the other? That's too subjective a call to make at this point.

That's just the problem though. The quality of the libraries aren't even the subject, it's the best selling exclusives for each console. The quality argument is simply damage control from angry fanboys that would rather get banned in a fit of trolling than just concede that the Wii is winning something.
I'm also completely baffle how the typical "Wii is in a different market" damage control managed to get slipped between the posts in this thread. It doesn't even apply...
