Whenever they make a sequel, I hope the lock-on system is improved. I can understand it not being that useful against multiple targets but it's not useful against single targets that are mobile either and that I don't understand.

Im not reading through any of the comments after the game released, so i dont know the opinion of you guys in the game. But goddammit, this game is freaking amazing. The gameplay, the pacing, the relationship between Kratos and the Boy, the side quest so far(Im reasonable early in the beginning) are so damn outstanding.I must congratulate Sony on reimagining this franchise.Hopefully we keep this formula for years to come
Plus Im playing in god Of War difficulty, so this game is going to take me a loooooooooong time to beat.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yeah I platinumed this yet I can't wait to get home again and restart another playthrough. The experience has me shook and I can't stop thinking about it

Nah, it's done mate. Gotta let it go now, the dream is dead. This game should be sitting at 97, such a pity. |
Unless we can get Gamecritics unvetted for having compromised review scores (they tend to base theirs off of what other people review stuff at and go a different direction).

Same, I'm playing Yakuza 0 but GOW keeps popping up into my mind. "Play me, play me, play me", lol. I really wanna put time between playthroughs and have a break from the sleepless addiction that was all the way to the platinum. I don't know how people are saying this is anything less than stellar cause it's so far beyond anything that has came out in it's genre this gen that it's in a league of it's own. I really do think it's beaten even HZD, nier, nioh and the top games of last year by wide margin in my mind. If it wasn't for the Witcher 3 and Divinity OS 1&2 I might even consider it for GoTG so far. God of war 2 is going to be the fucking, utter dogs bollachs. Roll on 2022. |
Yeah half the game was a blurr because I was skipping my sleeping hours to play it

Without Gamescritics what would it be sitting at? As much as I disagree with edge's review and a good chunk of the 80's they all seem legit for the most part, some unfortunate experiences some have had with how the game unfolded and some things that reviewers seem to have missed aside, they are valid. Gamescritics on the other hand, just from a look at there reviews are heavily biased against anything Sony and if you look a little deeper they have no shame in letting people know this, in fact they seem proud. Anyone got any idea what the score would be without them? |
I dunno, but it'd be losing a 7.0 that is only there because everyone loves the game. Contrarian reviews shouldn't be tolerated.

I was curious to see how the public reacted to GameCritics review of GOW. Woooo....the poor guy is getting crucified. I read his review and he did have some solid points. I didn't agree with like 2 of his view points. Outside of that, the review seemed legit. I don't agree with the scoring though. I'm not mad at it either though.
The editor there said that they tend to review games harsher because they feel as though 9's and 10's are passed around so casually. Some of the angry subscribers there was accusing the author of being a fanboy for Nintendo because he rated Zelda BOTW a perfect 10, although he had some valid critiques about that game. (I went back and read his review on that game) 7.5 isn't a bad score, but I understand the frustrations of the supporters of the game. You have to critique all of the games that way. Everyone and their mom gave BOTW the highest praise, so naturally from GC's standpoint, you would think that they would give the game an 8-9. Nope... they got a 10.
A 94 in score is still great guys. It doesn't change the merit of the game. GOW is still GOTY material. With Red Dead 2 coming out this year, I can only imagine what other games will be worthy.

Fighting without the lock on and instead using the 180 degree turn button is the way to go for crowd control and single enemies, it flows fantastically without the lock on. The only issue I've had that persisted was some of the dark elf heavies but Atreus with upgraded abilities, is your boy for controlling those bastards. |
I've never used a 180 turn button in any game. I just don't think of it in the moment but that's not what I'm talking about issue-wise. I was talking about the valkyries. You can't take your eyes off of them in a fight. Between spamming arrows and rolling/dodging, trying to follow one around with a camera is difficult. The lock-on is perfect for keeping them in your line of sight and freeing up your hand when it works. The range is really short and enemies can break it easily. When they make a sequel, it should be improved.

could be a few more I missed, GOW could potentially get 120 reviews so their are many possible outcomes that can occur.
