Forums - Sony - God of War review thread - Meta: 94 OC: 95

If it gets to 96 and stays there it will probably be the most impressive critical achievement of this gen. Granted Odyssey and BotW are higher, but they're Nintendo, who have an inherent ability to unite the industry when they knock it out of the park. Far far harder for any other dev to unite critics like that, even when they knock it out of the park too. So GoW's meta is pretty crazy. Also, I don't recall seeing a game climb the 90's on meta like this opposed to dropping. It started at 93 and I was just crossing fingers it could manage not to drop any lower. Never thought it would make a run for 96.

Still sitting on a strong 95 on MC! I wonder if it still has a chance at 96 with a few more reviews that are still yet to come if they all give it a 100.

It has a decent chance of getting to 96.

Are you getting it day 1?

I'll be legitimately surprised if EDGE gives it a 10.

I saw a lot of salt over GOW perfect scores in another site, i heard it was happening but i havent seen it for myself.

Cant wait for tomorrow night.

Lucky dog.

Also, new info RE: GoW sales from resetera.

Benji said:  “So, it's possible GoW may face some wide spread shortages at launch. Depends what sell through is like but shipments don't look like they are equaling what demand will be imo

Also the GoW Pro is pretry limited all things considered. Wide spread sell outs likely within 48 hours”

In response, Mat Piscatella (NPD Insider) said:  “So, I think we can go to high confidence that GoW will be the biggest exclusive launch on PS4 so far. Only question is how high is the sky.

That means >2.7 mill first week (Uncharted 4’s first week sales)

EDIT:  link:  https://www.resetera.com/threads/march-2018-npd-u-s-hardware-predictions-closes-tuesday-april-17th.34348/page-16

I called it, over 3M first week.... and I emphasized that I am aware that is just two days.

I think someone in that same thread was gunning for 3.5M though.

Yeah, I said 3-3.5 mill, tho release week being just two days definitely makes that achievement harder.

Yea i alwags get my games early, got yakuza 6 last week thursday.

Only thing that i thinks kinda suxks on gow is that the ps4 pro modes are in a patch and not on disc(3.5gb)

In that patch are also features that enable you to play the game without ANY ui on screen, makes the game look even more impressive.

I play it on performance mode and for my taste it runs soo smooth.

Graphics are insane! What a eye for detail, uncharted 4 and horizon has been easily beaten.

Ow and did i mention kratos can be drenched in blood when he keeps on killing?!

Combat system is fast and fun and you can almost feel every strike, spartan rage is just wow 0.o.

Game feels a bit more open then uncharted the lost legacy and has side quest.

Upgrade and gear crafting system is fine but locked behind the story.

Interaction between kratos and his son is on the last of us levels, you almost begin to feel sorry for kratos, but then you(and he himself) remembers what he did.

The soundtrack has been made in valhalla by lord odin, its freaking amazing!

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm shocked at just how excited for this game I am.

I didn't much care for the rest of the series, if I'm being honest, but I keep buying them because I know they're good and because I love hack and slash games! I got God of War and God of war II on Ps2, then again on PS3 in the God of War collection. I bought the Origins collection as well, then got God of War III on PS4. Then, when my copy of God of War III was stolen, I got it on Ps4 as a cheap download.

So it's not like I haven't supported the series, but I never did finish God of War III and didn't care to. by then I was bored of the franchise as it was the same hilarious nonsense I'd come to roll my eyes at back on the first game (which, by the way, is the one I like the least in the entire franchise thus far).

but, despite more than a decade of not caring for the franchise, here I am excited for the Norse reboot! Is it because I'm more of an adult now and am willing to risk it all on a new game? Is it because the formula and aesthetic is different? Is it because it's said to take after one of my all time favorite games (Bloodborne)? Am I just buying into the hype of a game with a high Metacritic score?

Who knows? All I know is that I'm stoked, the reviews I've read say that this game fixes all the things I found problematic in the prior games, and I'm getting it for cheap (56 CAD, so like 40 USD) due to Amazon messing up.

Let's kill some norse gods!

Another comment from Benji on resetera:

“There is a chance we will be looking at low inventory post launch / sporadically being out of stock. I'm sure if you look for GoW you will be able to find it without going into more than a store or 2. But I do suspect that their original shipment will be ran through pretty quick and a second large scale shipment hot on its heels

Demand for the game has skyrocketed over the past week and it was already high anyways.”

Can't wait to see the acclaim tv spots showing the game swimming in 10's.

GOTC, game of the century.

Can't wait to play it on my PRO. Saturday can't come soon enough ! :)
