Would that make 98 these days the 101 from 15 years ago?  ;P

Haha. It makes 98 these days pretty much impossible, as BOTW proved.

Played BOTW, great game, but overrated as #@$#@. Sure, it's a 9.0 game, but not a 9.7. Not a true game changer, not a revolutionary and innovative gameplay or never seen before experience.... just a good game worth a 9.0 at best.

I highly agree, game whas amazing but not that incredible, there where many issues i had a problem with, and other games would be burried under that!

I think I've read one of the best comments about the reviews.

When the French website jeuxvideo.com gave GoW a 20/20 (only their third one after 2 Zelda games), one of the guys complaining about it explained that it was obvious that reviewers were Pro-Sony and paid to promote the game, because...

"Reviews always come out the day the games release, so if they come out one week earlier this time, it's obviously because reviewers are paid Pro-Sony trying to sell the game! It's a conspiracy!" XD

Why ask a silly question? People wanting a game they’re excited for to review well is not new. And 95 versus 94 is the difference between something unprecedented for a ps4/XBO game this gen and something that’s been previously achieved.

But 94 is still very high, it's not like that's a horrible score. It's a one percentage-point difference.

Congratulations on winning the highly coveted "Captain Obvious" award!

Gonna chime in and agree as well. BotW was my 2017 GotY, and is the best thing Nintendo has ever made in my opinion.

But I'm gonna have to say it was a solid 9.4, and anything above that (to me) is just fanaticism.

Uncharted 4 was also overrated imho, hell TLoU was also overrated to me. Both games have the most bland generic gameplay. Lost Legacy to me was the best Uncharted in terms of gameplay. I just hate when games become too cinematic.

That's a thing I always disagree with a lot of people. TLOU gameplay was good IMO. But you had to play the awesome MP mode if you wanted to really enjoy the gameplay fully.

Metacritic already has vetting though, it doesn't allow every site to have their scores up there (VGC being an example), so I don't think it's an issue.

And that's what I'm saying.... They do. But it's not enough. And believe me it's a problem, that it left uncheckeded will only get worse.

It is an issue. Did you see the beginning of this conversation? We’re talking about a site (Quarter to Three) that consistently gives scores 30-70 points below the average Metacritic. How do you not see that as an issue?

Quarter to Three hasn't even reviewed the game yet.

I don't know if you are just stubborn or ignorant ( mean that literally not as an insult).

QT3 hasn't reviewed the game yet. I don't know if he even gets review copies. And that's an example of the problem. His reviews arel istedd on metacritic too. And his scores are abysmal.

Even more disturbing is that when asked if he was gonna review it his answer was he didn't even know about the game. Now tell me, what self respecting reviewer, listed on metacritic wouldn't even know of GOW. That's like a literature graduate saying he has never heard about shakespare.

At the very least, metacritic should only count reviews from outlets that were sent review copies. Not ideal, but better than what it is now.

Yes. I’m aware of that. That’s what we’re discussing—that QtT could cock it up for GoW’s 95 score bc they like to troll highly rated games by giving scores far below the avg. 60 for TLoU (MC 95), 60 for Horizon (MC 89), 20 for Forza Horizon 2 (MC 86), and there are NUMEROUS other examples that people have listed earlier in this thread.

But even if they give the game a lower score, what is the issue? Is a 94 going to make the game unplayable compared to a 95? Metacritic doesn't even say how they weigh each individual site to my knowledge so there is no transparency in that regard.

And that's why this is an issue. It's not only qtt that is a troll site. And should we wait till there are 20 of them before calling out flaws in metacritics vetting system. Like slant magazine scoring Zelda a 6/10.....
