Just one more question to Ioi: Would it be possible to add "all Europe" to the "Compare consoles" Charts? I´d really lke to see those numbers but comparing each console in each region reall takes some time. Would be great!

 good idea !

and it's still impossible to align PS3 charts

Uau, nice find. Looking at those numbers I get this: the 2005 data is actually pretty good; the 2006 data really seems far off.

2005VGCharzAC NielsenDifference
DS440556425000
+3.7%
PSP
306228
295339+3.7%

As for 2006, Nielsen reports a market split 62-38 in favor of the DS, while VGChartz splits it 49-51 in favor of the PSP. Nintendo themselves also said they sold twice as many DSes as Sony sold PSPs.

If we were to cross Nielsen's and Sony's numbers (which we really shouldn't, because Sony's numbers might be shipments not sales, and might be fiscal not calendar), it would still show an overestimation of the PSP by almost 30% and an underestimation of the DS by more than 25% (which despite being "wrong" says something).

Also according to Nilsen the DS user base in Spain is at over 1.5m. While it isn't clear whether this was in March or December, VGChartz still hasn't reached that number - it's at 1.3m right now.

All this info comes from TheGame's sources, see his post for links.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Yay European Numbers YYYYYYAAAAYYYY

@diomedes, Just because you don't like the data doesn't automatically means these numbers are way off. The data we did receive are more or less in line with the numbers that VG has. Take for instance: http://www.gwn.com/news/story.php/id/12495/Aussie_Wii_Sales_Top_80k.html That article puts PS3 at 36K compared to 80k for Wii and 160k for XBox 360. No exact date is given, but since the article is from May 2 I assume it will be around the end of April. At April 29 VGChartz has PS3 at 39k, Wii at 85K and XBox 360 at 166k, all pretty close to those numbers. http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/89889 Putting PS3 at 70.5k, Wii at 222k and XBox 360 at 262k at the end of April. VGChartz for April 29 are 73k for PS3, 230k for Wii and 270k for XBox 360. Once again very close to those numbers. http://xbox-mag.net/ventes-de-consoles-en-france---nintendo-domine--microsoft-peine__13097.html No totals for consoles here, except for PS3 since that was released in March. So that puts PS3 at 81k at the end of March. VGChartz has PS3 at 84k at April 1. Once again very close to each other. Now for your claim on 800k sold. There is this article on Gamespot from April 17!!! So that is almost 1 month after launch, there Stinger says PS3 sold around 800k now. So after the first release days it sold around 600k, then it took another 3 weeks to get to around 800k. Then selling another 110k in the five weeks after that doesn't even sound that unlikely. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6169204.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;8

Europe? I see PAL not Europe. I would have prefered EU-27 data not PAL...

By the way UK total is always wrong, numbers are x5, you should fix that!

Another bug : PS3 chart when set to "launches aligned" start at about week 18! Fix it please!

Diomedes, you have some (but few valid points), however: ioi's information is not cannon, nor ever will be. His numbers can and will be off. So what if he's 5% off on the PS3 here or there? The whole point is to show that by his figures, PS3 sales have plummeted in most regions. Regardless if you want to accept this or not, time will tell. If he's wrong, he'll fix the numbers. No big deal. If your wrong, you look like a total jerk because your trying to defend a system that just can't make up the difference.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

wasn't Diomedes the one saying that the April VGChartz numbers were completely wrong and that the PS3 would sell 130k and the Wii 200k? I know a thread like that existed but I can't seem to find it. If anyone can find it and prove me right/wrong I would be grateful

Exactly, that was very funny after NPD numbers came out! Diomedes gets more and more ridiculous for me, you can be sure that he will say these numbers are too low after some numbers come out, no matter which ones. he should start to accept reality I think.

Here you go!!

I dont trust the new weekly data . If this was to be believed the PS3 would dip around 100K for the month and the Wii would go to 400K .I doubt this is happening ,the PS3 has stabilized around 130K and the Wii is gradually lowering its sales not skyrocketing them . I predict a massive change of the american data of this site the same day NPD issues their numbers .

Sorry but I had to quote this one.

cheers,

I'll trust ioi over Diomedes any day.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Ioi, there is an error in the European numbers at the moment. In "other Europe" all figures are double.
