Yes. The key point here is that New Leaf is still selling. It will likely surpass all 3D Marios bar 1. AC titles have legendary legs. New Leaf and WW beat out MOST 3D Mario titles, so yes you are missing something.

i was wrong, it was much closer, mario still out sold it though. mario 3d land is sold/shipped 370k, vs 360k for animal crossing
