Labo Variety kit SKU, now 1 & 4 in Japan.........certainly flopping badly.

That depends on expectations of course. God of War had been #1 for awhile after all, and I don't think anybody is expecting anything more than for it to maybe match FC5 if that. Whereas for Labo, I'd say Japan is expected to be its strongest area for sales.  As has been mentioned previously in discussion, I don't really think first week sales matter all that much for Labo. If it is going to be a big time seller for NIntendo it will do so by word-of-mouth and by social media/Youtube attention. I think far more important than the initial numbers for Labo will be how fun the minigames actually are (or at least will be perceived to be) and how much replay value that you will get from the Variety Kit. The first week sales will mostly be from enthusiasts who will buy anything Nintendo, but getting it to grow beyond that will be crucial to Labo if it's to be considered anything other than something Nintendo enthusiasts will buy.

I agree with a lot of what you say. It is the clowns already calling it a flop that I question. When talking about expectations, whose expectations exactly ? because then anything could be considered a flop as not everyone has realistic expectations.

By the way, don't be too sure that Japan will be Labo's area of strongest sales. I think it will do quite well in Europe as well.

Great Job matey, always wanted something like this for the Switch SKUs.

Off topic, mentioned just because the media-create thread isn't up yet........horrible figures all round this week from Mediacreate Japan. Switch baseline dropped by 6k.

This week (last week)

NSW-36,308 (40,016)

PS4-10,964 (14,500)

3DS-8546 (9422)

Vita-2921 (2929)

XBO-72 (119)

How did you come up with 6k drop? It was less than 4k.

4k it is, don't know how I looked at 36k but somehow saw 34k LOL. Not as bad as I first thought then, I might have panicked because I thought it would be able to easily keep the 40k baseline..............still a far cry from some of the mid 20k baselines of last year despite a significant gap in notable releases.

Yeah, Switch is doing fine, especially when you consider how light the output has been in terms of big retail releases so far this year.
