Can't we wait until this Holiday ? This is clearly the moment where we'll see if the target demographic hooks on the idea, otherwise yeah it could be a "flop".

games don't flop in march in start selling during the holidays, it's pretty rare.

I don't think it will "flop" in April, but it's normal for Nintendo games to start slow and build up, especially the more casual ones like Kirby and Animal Crossing. Just Dance is another example. Since Labo fits this category, I think what @Mar1217 is suggesting is really reasonable.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

These kind of games are not meant to sell a bucketload FW, GoW is an established name whereas Labo is a fresh and new concept.

Heck, I can't even recall any of the big games (over 5M units) opening less than 500K in a month launch aligned for sleeper hits such as Nintendogs and Brain Age too ...

Kirby and animal crossing are not slow starters, and its not like kirby does amazing anyway, it sales around 1.5-2  million each entry.

it's gonna flop bad, except in japan. labo has 13 million views, it's not even in top 100 in amazon, thats unheard for a switch new release.

1.5 - 2 million for labo would be amazing.

The robot kit is definitely looking irrelevant (not even Japan think it's a good value) but I think it can manage 1M units for NA and EU combined at least during it's lifetime but I agree that it's biggest relative success will be met in Japan ...

How hard is it for you to understand that young kids and parents are not the type of demographic that preorder games in droves?

who is the demographic for kirby or splatoon? you seem to not understand, labo is not even in top 100 amazon, thats means nobody gives a shit about it.

Do you think Labo will do more at retail than online due to its unusual nature? It’s not treated as a usual video game. I think kids usually get their toys at stores still rather than ask mom and dad to preorder online unless it’s necessary. Sure Toys R Us will no longer be around by the end of the year, but I don’t think it’ll stop them from looking around for toys in stores such as Target and Wal Mart.
