Anyways, there's some important context that is always taken out of most of Crowbcat's videos :

"How FC2 holds up 10 years later. FC5 has its own attention to details that FC2 doesn't have, this comparison doesn't mean FC5 has nothing to show."

He's not really trying to be a dick for no reason.

Sadly, most people don't read the descriptions.

"lupus in fabula, venit enim ad me."

Translation: I will always hate Fox for canceling The Exorcist.

Yeah, I honestly don't believe that this stuff is missing from later Far Cry games because Ubisoft is lazy. It was dropped in Far Cry 3 to push graphics instead, and I believe it's missing from the current gen Far Cry games because alot of that stuff like physics based foliage is CPU dependent and the Jaguar CPU's in the current consoles are weak. There is plenty of other attention to detail in Far Cry 5 as you can see in this video:

Far Cry 5 is a much better game and I hate click-bait headlines like this.

we need Far Cry 2 Remastered

Some of the mechanics are undeniably superior in Far Cry 2 like the destruction physics but having Malaria wasn't very fun and gun jamming is absolute BS since military grade weapons hardly have feeding failures when there is usually good quality ammunition and magazines featured with it ...

Ehhh... the video demonstrates FC2 is a technically impressive game. But the game itself isn't very good.

I haven't played FC5, but the best part of 3 and 4 was exploring the world, unlocking all the fast travel spots, and hunting. You didn't do that in FC2 and the attempts to make the game more realistic often felt cumbersome. Like looking at a map, gun jamming, passing out, etc.

I don't recall exploring the world of FC2 being enjoyable and almost everybody you ran into tries to kill you. So the world just feels bleak and your only motivation to continue playing is a tedious campaign. Now if they made FC2 feel more like a modern FC game, I would enjoy that. I want to hunt endangered African animals so I can upgrade my wallet.

Exactly..  FC2 wasnt an enjoyable game, those mechanics weren't deployed in a manner to be enjoyed.. i remember how frustrating it was when camera broke off into semi cut scene to remove shards from the body.. But I accepted those issues as FC2 was the first game on that engine which could have been developed along side the game and was hoping the team would get better in implementing those mechanics in the next game with a good solid story as. which they did deliver a really good story and setting in FC3 but stripped of everything else.

I see FC2 as an interesting experiment that ultimately led to the more enjoyable 3 and 4. I haven't spent much time with FC:Primal, but even that appears to have interesting ideas we've seen in other Ubisoft games.

I wouldn't say FC3 stripped everything else, because FC3 did create a more free world to explore. I bet a lot more effort went into designing the worlds and activities in all titles after FC2. I'm not sure why they pulled back on foliage details and destruction, but it certainly didn't make a better game.

Its possible FC5 could even improve some aspects via patches, but I kinda doubt that will. Either way, this video doesn't cover why we play modern FC games and what makes them better. It just shows FC2 was a technically impressive game.

of course not FC5 is far superior game.. but my point is, that in end was the trade off for prettier graphics worth it? Personally for me i would have preferred less graphical polish and more environment interaction, it just adds an extra layer of immersion, and i m kind of a guy who would venture off course to explore the world.

But I think its the norm, and it would have been idiotic of ubisoft from a business point of view to not make prettier looking games.. coz thats what makes the first impression

I'm not sure if the environment interaction had to be pulled back for any reason other than more programming work. I don't think it would be intensive on GPU, maybe more so on CPU and memory? I couldn't tell you.

I feel better graphics is more important than the minor environment interaction. I mean the average person will spend more time appreciating polished graphics over interactive trees and foliage. Pretty graphics and focus on gameplay matters more.
