Their ads on TV for R&C on the PS3. They were CG and they blew this away which makes me think this is using the ingame engine.
EDIT: I just got the HD version off mega upload and when i paused it and zoomed in during the video it is 100% using a ingame engine. You can see lower res textures and his outfit seems to blend together with the straps. |
your right, in fact when i first downloaded the RC demo and booted game up, and you start off on the game in the beginning, i was still holding my pad thinking that this is still part of the fmv scene then i tilted stick forward and couldnt belive it absolutly stunning, so surely insomniac can make resistance 2 equaly or even more stunning than RC |
Should now allow for much more stuff, Insonmiac regarding Resistance 2 development:
"Propriety game systems are now being heavily farmed out to the PS3's SPUs, keeping the central PPU as a sort of traffic cop that organizes what gets attention at any given moment. In simple terms, the game is taking much better advantage of the untapped potential of the console. In regard to visuals, the expanded use of the SPUs means more enemies on screen, significantly more complex AI from all of those foes and dramatically expanded options for special effects."
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction is a beatiful impressive game with lots of moving objects and solid smooth action in top notch quality, but the PS3 is a beast and the key to unlock the beast is to optimise and move bulk of the game engine over to the SPUs. In this regard Insomniac is ahead of the competition, redesigning their legacy engine for the PS3 which they started with Resistance: Fall of Man development.
