This whole conversation today started with which is a bigger system seller, not smo vs ssb in software sales. There will be evidence when ssb release month is killinh it and its notable (npd).

And ssb in terms of hype is tied with pokemon if not more hyped than every nintendo franchise.

Hype doesnt always means biggest sales. Animal crossing is a great ex of this. Hype is nowhere near that of zelda yet AC sells more

No, it started with the claim that Switch in 2018 has no chance to match PS4's holiday performance of 2015.

Oh should of clarified between us my bad

I think it has no chance i think i'm free to have that opinion.

In terms of yearly NPD sales, I feel like Nintendo needs more than one big game this year to beat PS4's 2015. But it'll probably be close.

I think it comes down to a couple things.

1. Does Labo successfully become the next must have item for kids/families and become Switch's equivalent of something like Wii Fit, Nintendogs or Kinect?

2. Pokemon is officially listed as "2018 or later". Does Smash release in Sept followed by Pokemon in November or is Smash the big holiday title with Pokemon pushed back to 2019?

3. I think an official price cut is unlikely but will Nintendo have some appealing bundles or temporary holiday discounts?

If Labo is just a modest hit, Pokemon doesnt release and there are no holiday bundles/discounts than i would say PS4 wins.

If Labo is a huge hit, Pokemon releases and Nintendo has some great holiday bundles/discounts than i would say Switch wins.

If only one or two of those things happen than its a toss up.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

There will be at least 1 system seller after Smash this year (assuming it hits in September.) I also expect holiday bundles this year from Nintendo.

correction on my part, the only way i see switch beating ps4 2015 is labo becomes some huge hit. if it doesnt then no chance imo.

I updated the chart to show that PS4 recieved a $50 price cut in October along with a further $50 discount on Black Friday and 2 weeks of December.

The more likely scenario is Switch having Smash and Animal Crossing as their big games later this year, while Pokémon is the main thing for 2019. I think they will also have some decent deals this time. Hopefully they feel a bit generous.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Mario kart sold 37 million on wii. wii wa something else, the thing sold 715k on a april, all games got much better  sales then they would normally have.

You keep saying Wii was something else, but you have failed to validate why the Switch can not also be "something else" ...

Because nothing points to it being something else. I know some people think that the Switch will sell 25M - 30M this year but there’s no reason to think that it will be another Wii.
