Based on what you think that?

momentum from spider man and red dead.

Red Dead from what we are seeing isn't as big as people thought.  Way bigger than RDR1, a FAR cry from GTAV.  Should still move a healthy number of units.  But all these Xbone deals have definitely taken the spotlight off PS4 at Gamestop.  We'll have to wait and see.  These three months are when predictors tend to become less reliabke, but based on the tool's history, it's design has thus far compensated for potential disruptions by accounting for multiple predictors. It has a much better shot at accuracy.

What did people think, and what are we seeing? xD

I don't think people expected it to come close to GTAV which sits at 100m+ shipped now. It's still going to be in the same league as CoD and Fifa, it's one of the biggest games there is.

Overall (with preorders from last months) :

1 - NS : 838.9 points (+17.8) ; Month Average : 819.4 points/day ; 1.0
2 - PS4 : 487.9 points (-73.4) ; Month Average : 575.6 points/day ; 0.70 (-0.01)
3 - XBO : 1731.6 points (-3.1) ; Month Average : 494.1 points/day ; 0.60 (+0.07)

Wow not looking good for PS4 this month, but I guess they will hold off a price cut till next month.

Huh?

PS4 monthly avg is still higher than the XB1's.
Even with a extra 2 days of deals left, the PS4 will probably end up ahead of the XB1 this month (in NPD) and without a doubt worldwide.

Still 130$ temp price cut did insane work for XB1...... this is when price cuts are most effective, when a new game releases that people want.

Yeah, I don't know where this silliness is coming from.  Isn't as big as people thought, really?

i guess its based off the UK where it did like 700k with digital supposedly but thats only one market and suspect it will appeal to the US market in a much bigger way.

How much more boost can the PS4 even recieve? It's a system that approaches 90M sold so the system seller effect of software has to wear off at some point.
I think RDR2 has done insanely well but the big effect on PS4 sales just was not there.
The XBO deal is insanely good value which is well represented in the tool.
And the Switch bundles are the wildcard. They kept the system on top of the month and because they are preorders (Smash and D3) they are hard to guess.

It will be an interesting month and I have faith that the tool is right again as it has been since it's inception.

All those people that picked up a new console to play RDR2, that went with the Xbox this week, because it was 130$ off....
Those coulda been PS4 owners instead of, had Sony pulled a move like that.

So PS4 can still go higher, Xbox just stole all their thunder, by under cutting them massively, so PS4 didnt get much of a boost from RDR2.

This seems like a strategy from MS side, if they cant get marketing on a big game, they instead spend money on doing flash fire sales when title release.
It seems like its effective, its just a case of what wastes money more? Sony doing a RDR2 marketing deal? or MS throwing money away with 130$ off on console sales.

Only just, if the Xbox sale is still on this week then it will surely pass it?

Sale last 2 more days... Im not sure if XB1 will be ahead of PS4, but it does... wow, PS4 marketing for RDR2 totally wasted.

Also seems like Rockstar used a shitty type of checkerboarding techique too.
Hopefully PS4 doesnt do marketing with them again if its just gonna be wasted like this, and the devs. dont even optimise things right for the PS4 when it has marketing deal.

There are two different philosophies at work this month.

1. Sony wants to maximize profit per console sold while not selling a lot of units. That's why there is only one bundle with RDR2 and it's the more expensive PS4 Pro and not the base model and was also severely limited in stock.

2. Microsoft wants to maximize unit sales while losing money per console sold. That's why there are bundles/SKUs galore with no stock limitations and much larger price cuts compared to the one SKU Sony is offering.

All that said, if Microsoft doesn't come out ahead of Sony for NPD it would be an absolute embarrassment.
