You also can't take the million number and assume they enjoyed it either.  Hell, how many people played No Mans Sky day 1 and look at that situation.  The issue I keep seeing with Sea of Thieves isn't that it isn't enjoyable, its that after a couple hours you have seen pretty much everything the game has to offer.

I didn't assume anything. I'm not trying to convince anyone that majority of players liked or disliked the game. Judging by my experience with the beta yeah it's likely it's lacking content - for now at least. Then again, I've played some online shooters for hundreds of hours even though it only took 10 minutes to see everything it had to offer heh.

I hear that one.  Though I think a huge difference there is the experience you are hoping for.  With SoT people are hoping for a pirates adventure and their interpretation of it includes more than the game does at the moment.  Game like Fortnite I just want to shoot people in the face over and over again.

And what do you suggest I write about? How I got dumped into games with crew members who didn't listen to me? About how much of a pain I felt it was to take quests and how clunky the gameplay felt? About how I got lost and my crew left without me (no idea how they did that: I thought it needed all four members to set sail on a ship that size), about how my internet was less than stellar for it so I kept glitching?

I played 10 hours between the two betas, and while I can't pretend it was representative of the final game, my concerns were not alleviated once the reviews started coming in. The things I was worried about seemed just as bad in the final game, and while I HATED my time with the game, I chalk most of that up to the tools that were in my crew combined with my shoddy connection.

But I'm not here to talk about my hatred for the game, because I'm not stupid enough to believe that the things I hated about my time with it are representative of the final game. However, during that time, I did have some very real concerns with the game and the final release spoke to me that my concerns were valid, and that's what I've been talking about. If I was looking to be critical, or looking to avoid civil discussion and just hate on the game, I'd use my experiences as an anecdote for how bad the game is, but I'm not doing that because that would be foolish.

You said you had friends who have the game so why would you be dumped into games with random crew members? But ok I get it, the game made you suffer so obviously it's not for you.  Better to just move on.

Thats actually a good point.

Maybe thats what Sea of theives needs, something to make it competitive between players, and say hunt down one another on leaderboards.
Then there could be a "current leaderboard" and a "All time high", and the idea would be to go after the current ones, and try to get your own name on the "all time high list".

They could reward people that made it onto the all time high list, with some costmic (unique) that shows this player is fantastic.
And then reset the "all time" list every few months or so (when they had out the rewards).

*edit:   Obviously such a "leaderboard" would be called something like "Wanted List"

Not sure about that... leaderboards like that just promote cheating and scumbag behavior. Why do you want this game to be competitive, something it's not supposed to be? And I believe you get some cosmetic items when you become a pirate legend.

Some kind of bounty hunt thing might be cool though. Seek and destroy a certain crew or something. Maybe they'll add something like that in the future?

Because otherwise it just feels too much like a "fetch this" quest type game? I think they should encurage the pvp elements.

So it would be like "kill the other player" type game? Yeah there sure ain't enough of those already.. right now it's "fetch this" and have some unexpected and awesome adventure while doing it and kill other players or make new friends while you're at it. Doesn't sound too bad, does it? It just needs fleshing out.

Have you played it or are you considering playing it btw?

Trusted Reviews just gave it an 80.

Im not sure my PC can run it, and I wouldnt get a xbox for it.
It would need alot more content, and some sort of progression system or something to strive for, for me to even consider picking it up (even if I could run it).

No havnt seriously considered it.
Also Ni No Kuni 2 just released and yeah.... rather play that.
