Any chance the game will expand past its current content? I say the moment for that is now.

The game does have content issues for sure but it is still a fun time, especially with friends. Having said that I can't help but wonder if Microsoft got greedy with this game. 2 years ago when it was announced it was announced as a $30 title. I pre ordered it that day and am glad I did after they bumped it up to a full $60 game, but it seems like they doubled the price without adding enough content to justify that

Really? I said 67, and it's at 67... I think I've decided that I'll wait until this game is in the bargain bin. Definitely still want to play it as the concept is still appealing, but full price for a game this shallow is just bad, plus you HAVE to pay for Xbox Live Gold in order to play it. Not worth it. And who knows, maybe later when it's cheaper, it'll also have more content. Wait, that'll be when it also has microtransactions. Wow. triple dipping for this game? High base cost, required Xbox Live Gold, plus microtransactions? Not sure if this is worth it at $20. Should be free. |
I was going by the user predictions in from OP.
Should be F2P for sure though.
There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

If they can get gamepass to profit they will make more in the long run off of the whole operation than they ever would with exclusives. Because of the change of economics, helm games would be judged by how they keep traffic going and subscriptions running. The netflix model will force them to have to increase their quality and justify the yearly subscription. |
I disagree, I think this will make them NOT want to increase their quality either. I dont think Microsoft cares or ever cared about making their own quality stuff at least not on the level of the other two. This way they can make money and not have to do much which is kinda what they've seem to be trying to do since the start of the gen. Now they can be like "well the games arent all that, but its only 10 bucks a month!" Not bad really

a shame, too. I mean, I really want to like it, too. The concept is amazing, the environments make me smile, and I love the idea of getting crew andseeking booty...but I Can't even begin justifying it at that price.
Its now 59 on OpenCritic.
Gamersheroes.com 4/10.
"At its best, Sea of Thieves is a casual multiplayer experience that can be a blast with a few buddies for a couple of hours. Offering little more reward than a new beard or pair of pants, it quickly shows its true colors. After the second or third session, the repetition, lack of goals, and complete absence of progression really start to set in"
"This game was not ready for release, it was not ready to be played by the masses, and it most certainly is not worth the $60 price tag."
This does not sound fun:
As a solo sloop, I just had a 4 man Galleon team attempt to engage with me. Obviously I can't win that fight, so I set sail with the wind and adjusted course in order to hit a outpost down-wind.
These guys were fucking horrible at sailing. They never had their sails aligned correctly, and were getting outrun by me. I thought I was home free, and then I suddenly saw their Galleon go bow-up and sink into the depths for no reason. I was very confused, but not upset, so I continued going towards my destination.
Their Galleon respawned at the outpost I was heading towards. They knew I had outplayed them, so they just scuttled their (obviously empty) ship and respawned exactly where I was trying to go. So I diverted to a different outpost.
As I approach the new outpost, I see their galleon freshly spawned and dropping sails to come after me. I once again divert, and a third fucking time these same fuckwads just scuttle their ship and respawn at the outpost I was trying to go to.
I obviously had realized what was going on, so I tried to outplay them at their own game. I started sailing away from them towards a distant outpost, and the instant I saw their ship start going down, I pulled a 180 and (now WITH the wind) started sailing towards the outpost they just scuttled at.
By the time I get there, they not only had time to realize that I had turned around, but to scuttle their new ship AGAIN, and respawn at the SAME OUTPOST they were at less than 5 minutes ago.
I have now wasted probably close to if not over an hour trying to get my chests and skulls to safety, and it's been made literally impossible because of these scumbags being able to perfectly control where they spawn. They are ALWAYS waiting for me. So I try to quickly go ashore and turn in at least one skull.
Nope. Obviously they were waiting for me, and all FOUR of them murder me. I respawn, they murder me before I fully gain control of my character with a point blank blunderbuss shot. They didn't sink my ship, they didn't even take my treasure, they just sat there and murdered me constantly as I respawned before I could defend myself.

The PS5 Exists.

I think Gribble never played The Division.
Gee Gribble, why didn’t you C&P the edited part of that reddit post.

Because it turned out to be a stupidly long post and I decided to leave the link instead. If I was trying to hide anything I could have just posted it without the link ... no? Bottom line: It happened. Whether it should have happened or not is besides the point.
