I don’t own an Xbox One, I own 3! Day One edition still in box (Achievement card not used), standard X1 in the basement, and an X1X in my living room. Love the console(s) to bits! Great multimedia devices that just so happens to play great games, Netflix, YouTube, and live television. I tend to play online multiplayer (Sea of Thieves will be my life very shortly) more than single player, and I don’t care for anime or story based games. The Xbox brand suits me just fine and I don’t feel the need for a backup console as I’ve outgrown Nintendo and traditionally I barely ever turned on my ps2 or 3.

I’m Team Xbox all the way!

Dude, nobody 'outgrows' nintendo, in much the same way nobody 'outgrows' Pixar or classic Disney.

I'm 32 years old, and I still find more enjoyment in my Switch than basically anything else right now. Zelda, Mariokart, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon, and many others have gotten more play time out of me in 2017 than anything on Xbox One, Ps4, or PC. Oh, and Pokemon. Loves me some Pokemon, for sure.

I mean, this thread is about opinions and explanations...but I am genuinely curious how someone could 'outgrow' Nintendo.

Or people who 'don't care about story based games'. Or people who care more about multimedia functions than games. Are you from The Onion or some other satire site? It SOUNDS to me like you're the kind of person who anti-xbox fanboys make up to describe the dudebro stereotypes they perceive to be Xbox fans. Like, the way you describe yourself reminds me of the sort of way PS3/4 fanboys would mockingly describe Xbox fans in order to make them all look foolish.

"Dude, bro, I don't care about stories in games, I just wanna SHOOT stuff, brah! Forget about all that kiddy nintendo crap, I can watch SPORTS on my Xbawks then fap to youporn and get mah chick down and dirty with some netflix and chill, bruh!"

Are you a caricature? :P

(I jest, of course, we're all entitled to our opinions, but I still find it odd that you say you outgrew nintendo. All jokes aside, that does baffle me)

I’ve been a Nintendo fan since the SNES.  I’ve owned every Nintendo since then (sans 3DS & Switch - yes, I even own a Virtual Boy and multiple Game & Watches).  Over the years I’ve become less and less involved with their franchises.  I’m not saying they’re bad, I’ve just moved on and found other gaming options and like I’ve stated, I’ve outgrown Nintendo.  It’s not out of the realm of possibilities.  Did every PC owner start on PCs?  Doubtful.

But seriously, assuming I’m a ‘bro’ because I prefer gaming to stories?  Come on, it’s 2018.  There are plenty of genres that don’t require a story in order to get fans - most of which don’t involve a digital gun.

Do you have a bunch of posts bookmarked for situations like this or something?

I have a database.

George Orwell is turning in his grave, knowing that all his 1984 fears of big brother reached it's apex, not in the form of government/ corporate rule , although to be fair it hasn't been for lack of effort, but was achieved by one man and his database taking control of the VGChartz forums.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

People actually hate the Xbox One controller? Sorry, this is kind of unheard of for me. I've seen PS4 fans resort to using similar PS4 controllers because it's awesome...

I love the AA battery support so I can have higher capacity batteries and can hot swap them so I never need a cable to charge it.

And I love the Asymmetrical Analogue sticks for most games.
But when it comes to 2D platformers/Fighting games, I don't enjoy the placement of the D-Pad, that's the only caveat for me, otherwise it's a perfect controller outside of the venerable keyboard and mouse.

With that in mind... Don't take this forum to be representative of the entire gaming community as a whole, it simply isn't.

I also prefer my DS4, even on PC. I think the XB1 Pad is clunky and I don’t like the feel of buttons, plastic surface in general and the shoulder buttons and triggers. I hate this glossy plastic feel.

I outgrew most of the old rubbish from Amblin with Balto's exception. Your statement is incorrect...

Somebody actually put that they don't like the controller? I thought that was widely accepted as the best form factor for a controller (used by Xbox, Wii U Pro Controller, and PC). Hell, even my Oculus Rift came bundled with an Xbox controller.

Bidding on one on ebay now, my brother's PC is having issues with Forza 7, and if I can get an XBO for under £100 it just makes sense to do that rather than build him a new PC.

I don't know why people are so surprised, to be honest. The analogs are great, but that's really the only good thing about the Xbox One controller. The bumpers are too clicky, the triggers are too mushy, the face buttons are soft, and the d-pad sucks.

The shape is great and the analog sticks are arguably the best ever. That's really all it has going for it; just so happens to be the two things that are the easiest and most prevalent to experience when you hold the controllers by default.

I answered games. I owned all 3 consoles last gen, and at one point all 3 this gen. Recently sold the Xbox One after realizing nothing upcoming (exclusive wise) was of interest to me, and in the present at the time the console was collecting dust in a spare room... this was after finishing Gears 4. I didn't need the money, but I figured I'd rather have the $150 than see the console rot away.

If Gears 5 comes out, might pick an X up to play it... or simply borrow my cousin's S. I have nothing against Microsoft, I probably logged the most hours into the Xbox 360, but at the end of the day they need to get their games in order.

Polar opposite example is Nintendo. I purchased a switch pretty much SOLELY to play mario odyssey, ended up keeping the switch to occasionally play kart with my brother online.

In general I find myself trying to live leaner when it comes to material goods, including gaming.  I don't keep my old systems or games.  Make a memory, have fun, move on.  Life calls.  That being said PS4 + Switch is all I need or have time for right now.  Of course, I'm a bit older than the average user on here.
