Don't care for its exclusives and interface. Also, nowadays, I really can't stand Phil Spencer. I also think they are at the forefront of alot of initiatives that would make the industry worse (to me) such as showing little support for non-digital games, along with little love for single player gaming.

also they are trying to make gaming a subscription. please. for the love of god I hope people do not buy into this in a major way. I hope gamepass does well and they make more games. but they should not be normalizing this

if that happens then providers will have a monopoly on developers

The fact that Microsoft still either requires AA batteries or a 30 dollar battery pack is laughable to me, and sort of the cherry on the cake.

I actually prefer the AA Batteries. Want to know why?
I don't have to live a cabled life when the controller goes flat, just hot swap the batteries out for new ones.

Plus... Controllers with built in lithium batteries will eventually fail, it's not a matter of if, but when. - They are only good for a finite amount of cycles.
Someone like myself can easily swap the cells out, but your average person? Nah.
I intend to keep my consoles for decades, so long life is important.

And the other issue is energy capacity.
The Playstation 4's controller has a pathetic 1,000mah battery. 1,000mah. I'll let that number sink in.
3,000mah AA batteries are easy enough to find these days... And if you wish to go the Ultrafire route, 3,500mah.
Which means the Xbox controller can have 6-7x more battery capacity than the paltry Playstation 4 controllers.

Sure, Microsoft's approach might cost you more, but it's easily the option that gives you more options and that to me, means it is the superior choice without question.

Might be a stupid reason after so many years, but I got a Red Ring of Death back when I got the Xbox 360...

I never knew about it after some years later, didn't use internet much back then (I was a 13 year old south american boy). But I saved a ton of money and when my family had a trip to the U.S in early 2006, I bought it; it lasted for about 3 months until I got the RROD; I sent it over "repair" but obviously that doesn't have a fix, only getting a new one if I remember correctly.

Since I bought it in the U.S I couldn't replace it in my country, international warranty was not a thing back in those days, good thing most well established brands have that now.

Is a big grudge I have with Microsoft consoles, especially since it has been the only console I have ever own that broke completely.

That's one reason at least, the really main one after so many years is that it doesn't have exclusives that I want to play really; Sony and Nintendo are better suited for want I want to play, and I mostly use PC for 3rd party stuff.

You just contradicted yourself.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

ah. I guess the glass is half empty

gonna click on "I have a gaming PC" because I have a PC which can run mostly everything that X1 can, but really the answer is that there is no games on the system at all which I feel I'm missing out on by not having it, perhaps the remaster of Halo 2 or the fairly weak attempt at Halo 5 but otherwise what does that system have which isn't available anywhere else?

edit - should clarify my PC running mostly everything that the X1 can meaning that it can't run the handful of games which do not come out on the PC (Halo 5 guardians)

My PC, fairly certain can throw out anything that X1 can, playing Overwatch 1080p/250fps

I DIDN'T have one for years because I just didn't want to own three consoles but, at the prices they are now I said fuck it and got one. Now, it's my primary online gaming console.

Just the games for me. PS and Nintendo have exclusives I'm interested in, while Xbox does not.

It's probably the first system where I can't think of a single game I'd want to play on it, and can't find anywhere else. Usually there's at least one or two games that I feel interested in but might not be enough to justify the purchase...but in this case I can't think of a single one. It's crazy...it's like a bunch of executives sat down and discussed how to make a console that would be the exact opposite to Super_Boom's tastes.

Looking at the sales figures it seems that group of execs did a damn fine job of making a console that isn't to a lot of peoples tastes, after the success of the X360 even in the face of the RRoD it's such a shame what became of its successor.
