What game with multiplayer focus didn't turn out too well?

warhawk and starhawk were not successful. neither was Twisted metal ps3 which had all of its budget obviously in the MP part of the game. all of these studios got shut down and none of the games sold well at all. I remember starhawk was like 10 dollars less than 3 months after release.

RIGS studio shut down immediately after release, same with drawn to death

dear god. literally almost every sony studio that closed made an MP flop as a last stand.

also god of war ascension multiplayer focus. a few other games. MAG comes to mind but that was very early.

warhawk sold 1 million units.

I doubt it was. the servers were shut down early.

Competitive gaming should honestly just stay on PC because as soon as a platform dies the viability of a competitive community comes into question but with Sony it might be possible since they have a big enough userbase to support the viewership provided only on the condition that they retain the PS5 being backwards compatible with PS4 ...

Once an online service shutdown for a game, any sort of productive or in general multiplayer interaction comes to a halt ...

MAG shutdown only 4 years after it's release, Dust 514 shutdown just 3 years after it's release, Paragon was an early access game which will effectively be shutdown after just 2 years of service, DCUO will go down after 7 years but there's countless many other examples ...

 Warhawk servers are still going.

You know what this means right? It means that not only is Playstation Allstars Battle Royale 2 real, but it's gonna' be the official game of EVO 2019!

... I can dream, right? :(

Here's hoping PSAS: BR2 can improve upon its overall gameplay enough to appeal as a casual and competitive fighter.

wahawk servers shut down long time ago. I believe 2012.

You know what would kill for them with eSports? SOCOM II HD. Make it happen Sony.
