Forums - Nintendo - Okami better on PS2?

DKII said:

And since Nintendo Power got sold off and isn't even associated with Nintendo anymore I'm not sure they even have any credibility.

Wait, so in order to have credibility, the magazine needs to be owned by / associated with the maker of the console?

So if Microsoft and Sony published their own magazines, would those be more credible than what is currently out there?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Well Windbane is an objective non-biased owner of all three consoles, I see no reason why this would be an unfounded or inflammatory thread.

I appreciate this trolling...I really do. I own both a Wii and a PS3, and I want to play Okami on the Wii despite already having Okami on the PS2. I never finished it. This thread is not unfounded, but your comment was uneccesary and false. I trust EGM, so it's hard for me not to worry about 3 seperate reviewers from them and Nintendo Power...and 3 reviewers from Game Informer (to which I subscribe but do not trust). It is hard for me to buy the theory that EGM just received an early build because even if they did it's only a few weeks early and that's not a lot of time to fix problems. So, it worries me. Why don't you stop trolling?

I'm sorry you feel that way, but you creating the seventh, "Is Okami for the Wii inferior to the PS2 version" thread is quite arguable as being trolling itself. We know your preference is the Sony consoles even if you do own a Wii and enjoy its games. Owning a console is no proof of equal consideration or preference or an unbiased standing. Even Soriku is planning on getting a PS3, do you think he now values the PS3 and Wii equally?

And though while I'm the "Troll" I'll let it slide that you made no mention of SSJ12, who came into the thread with eroneous information make a hit and run jab at the Wii version.

On topic:

It seems most reviewers are deeming this the better version so I see little need for Worry. Nintendo Power is no longer part of Nintendo so their opinions have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Nintendo Power's current editors are strongly against PS2 ports for the Wii, which would explain the comment.

X-Play gave it 5/5 -- though it was noted that you did sometimes have to do the brush strokes more than once to get them recognized.

Gamesradar gave it an 8 and said the motion controls is not better than the analog controls. Not that I really visit them for reviews but ??? Outdated version there? Maybe it's based on your own experience with the Wiimote instead of the game itself.

Wow, you act like you know me personally and yet completely ignore everything I've said in this thread. I am not aware of any other thread that discussed this topic. If there was one, I'm sure someone would have linked it. Maybe you can. Let me repeat again for you since you can't seem to grasp this concept: I was very much looking forward to playing this game on the Wii. The reasons I prefer PS3 over Wii are not in play with a PS2 port the last I checked. There's no online play, no buddy list, no enhanced graphics, etc. As you say, I enjoy many Wii games, so why don't you stop assuming things about me instead of not reading what I say? Because there have been good reviews (especially X-play that hates Japan), I am still looking forward to playing this on the Wii. I rent games now so I'll compare the 2 versions since I already have a copy of the PS2 version. This was a legit topic and you are mainly a troll in the threads I've seen lately. Ohhh man, Nintendo Power isn't owned by Nintendo so they must hate Wii games. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Hate the games that your audience likes. What other PS2 ports have they "hated," because a 75 isn't showing too much hate.

It's funny to watch all of you Wii fanatics twist and turn under the supposed oppression of unfair reviews for a game. For all of your upholding of Metacritic as the ultimate way to tell how good a game really is, not one of you have pointed out that this game's PS2 version has a higher score on Metacritic.

This is fun.

No Windbane, Nintendo Power doesn't hate Wii games, they hate PS2 ports. You even acknowledge this directly after your asinine statement.

What other PS2 ports have they hated? Try Prince of Persia Rival Swords (shitty gimped port of Prince of Persia 3). Try Scarface. Try Godfather: Blackhand. I think the reaccuring comment of "enough crappy PS2 ports already" is testamony enough to their sentiments.

Oh but no, "its just us defending this game." Certainly the same magazine that gave Nights for the Wii a 10/10 is to be weighed as the most important reviewer of them all. Who cares if Nintendo Power is no longer directly associated with Nintendo, oh the shock!

I'm sorry to dissapoint all of you who tried to weigh down hype for the Wii version with false rumors and trolling all these months leading up to the release but more reviewers agree this is the ideal version than not. This is not a case of Nintendo fanboys ravinously defending a game that is being slammed. It's a case of Anti-Nintendo fanboys trying to belittle this quality title finally come to the console everyone agrees it was envisioned for.

You folk make so many threads trying to find a chink in this game's armor and if anyone comes to raise issue with the grounds of attack, suddenly the Nintendo fanboys have come out to defend obviously a flawed game. Oh the Fanboyism you cry as you try to spin every review that isn't a 10/10 or 5/5 into meaning this game is the harbinger of doom for the Wii.

Of course its not you trying to sensensationalize a handful of compromising reviews at all, its obviously us managing damage control for a game everyone is hating on. I'm sorry Windbane, there will never be a LAIR for the Wii no matter how badly you want to argue this may be the case.

The Wii Version is the ideal verison. End of argument. But don't worry, you own a Wii so you'll be able to play it too.

Just watched X-Play, and they also cited issues with the brush control on Wii, saying it's worse than PS2. Oh well, I guess I'll find out for myself.

Onimusha12: You are the one with the agenda, not me. I am not attempting to belittle anything like you are trying to belittle me. I simply want to know which version is better. There is evidence that the brush controls have problems and that the graphics are not the same on the Wii. Like I keep saying every time I respond to you, and you keep ignoring: I very much want the Wii version to be the best because of the Wiimote. I have been looking forward to this. Sources I trust (mainly EGM, which contrary to popular belief on this forum does not hate the Wii, and I know this because I listen to all of their podcasts) are telling me there are issues with a game that I did not think would exist. Not every Wii game is going to be perfect. Stop acting like there's never a reason to question a Wii game. You say the Wii will never have a game like Lair. You are saying there will never be a game that is hyped that receives low review scores? How about Mario Party 8? I loved those games for about 5 or 6 in the series and wanted the Wii version to change things up, but it didn't. I bought Warioware instead. There will be plenty of games that don't live up to hype on the Wii. You need to accept that. That happens on every system.

Of course Windbane, of course I am.

I imagine ror a game that can get a 5/5, the brush control problems can't be too bad.

I edited my post above. The PS2 version also received a 5/5. X-Play isn't exactly the most accurate on reviews, but they cited the problems but said despite them the game is still worthy of a 5/5. No one is saying the game is broken, but the only reason I was excited for this port is the pointing controls of the Wiimote. It's disappointing that it's not as good as it should be, by most accounts. But again, I'm going to try it most likely. You have had an agenda against me and this thread and it's fairly obvious. I should have reported your first post but I don't like to do that. It was pure trolling and a sarcastic attack at me for no reason. I've explained myself too many times to someone that fails to comprehend my reason for starting this thread.
