Did anyone else see it? I heard about the project back when it was called 'God Particle'. And I didn't hear anything else about it until it was announced as a surprise release for Netflix at the Super Bowl. Something told me that should have been a red flag. This was easily the worst J.J. Abrams-related project. A lame space peril clunker that you've seen too many times before forced into the Cloverfield mythos. Which, to be honest, no one really cared about that much anyway. Since 10 Cloverfield Lane had crap all to do with the first movie which came out in 2008. The ship has sailed.

The events in the movie weren't even science fiction, or even science fantasy. I think it was just magic. Thinking about the intrigue of the first film and how the creature came to be was sort of interesting. now that this movie came out, it killed the franchise dead just that fast.

I watched it immediately after the super bowl and everything about it was just straight trash. Terrible love story. Badly written characters. Convoluted story that jumped around so much that it didnt make any sense what so ever. It didn't know whether it wanted to be a serious sci fi flick or a comedy at times, it just felt paced very badly.

None of the characters were likable.

It seems this movie wasnt even supposed to have ties to the Cloverfield storyline but at the last minute they decided to throw in references to it and call it a day.

What makes me hate it or more is this is a direct sequel to the first movie thats supposed to tell us all the details and how things came to be in the first movie. Well in this movie they state they're at war and craps about to hit the fan,but 10 years ago,during that same time period in the first movie, there was literally no war going on between countries.

Timeline got all chewed up and spit out.

The first two movies are alternate timelines now. They turned the franchise into Bioshock Infinite, with the same type of chaos infecting whatever reality. It's just plain goofy. Like, if someone sat down and explained the backstory to people that only watched the first flick, they should have every reason to laugh in your face. It's a lot of nonsense for what was supposed to be a franchise about giant creatures. It's like they took the worst of Event Horizon and Life and called it a day. And i have a feeling they KNEW this was bad, which is why they shovelled it off on Netflix.

I liked the first one a lot, the second one I thought it was just ok, now you guys killed any enthusiasm I had for watching the third.

OP: That movie was really disapointing specially because how I loved the first two. I agree,Paramount dumbed this on Netflix because they knew it was going to do bad and they couldn't afford another box office failure after the disaster that last year was for Paramount. The movie makes no sense and have so many plot holes,what kinda kills me the most tho is that scene with the autor at the beggining. They pretty much gave away the secret of the movie on the very first minutes! Even explaining how Clover will come to be!

The fourth Cloverfield is out in october. It is going to be about the Second War and nazis and zombies and such. I will give it a chance because I still a huge fan of the first two movies,but they really messed up the universe of this movie on the latest one.

It's already on Netflix? I'll check it out this weekend.

10 Cloverfield Lane is way better than Cloverfield



Anyway, Paradox Cloverfield tell us that Shepard experiment fucked up all realities and that's why there is a monster in the first one (it was send to ocean before WW2), aliens invaded Earth in second one and a full grown Clover went to that reality after they turn on Shepard in space.

While there is some answers, the movie still is bad written and they left some plot holes (not with the Clover story though).

I personally liked it and thought it was at good, though I agree it could have been a lot better and that a lot of the shit that happened didn't make any sense, it was just really messily put together, which is a shame because I think the story that was there was really intriguing and could have been really amazing had they told it better.

There are some theories that some people have been speculating on reddit that I think maybe make the film a bit more understandable, such as someone pointed out maybe that that one dude who lost control of one of his eyes and started talking to himself in the mirror perhaps collided with his other version in the different dimension then made a gun and threatened Schmidt? Because in the 2nd dimension Schmdit was a traitor, so how would that dude all of a sudden know that? Only the different dimension version would know that, but yet all of a sudden the first dimension person knew that too. 

Then why was the dude's arm sucked into the wall all of a sudden and ripped off and then apparently sentient and able to write? Why was there a girl in the wall of the spaceship all of a sudden? Why were the worms and that power thingy in that guy's body all of a sudden? So much shit that didn't even seem to have an explanation. 

But yeah it seems like the story now for Cloverfield, or what they wanted it to be based on this, is now there are different dimensions that are getting fucked up shit happening into them due to this. In one dimension the Cloverfield monster attacks, in the 10 Cloverfield Lane dimension aliens invade, etc.

I'm guessing the Overlord movie, which is supposed to be the 4th cloverfield movie, is probably going to be its own dimension too. Basically they now have an unlimited way of having anything happen in any situation and having it just be 'oh but it's a different dimention so'. 

I actually enjoyed it and think that its the best of the 3 movies so far.

I thought it was fantastic, I'm not sure how people don't understand what was going on, they done everything to explain the plot barring getting out a powerpoint presentation and actually going through it in bullet points.

The thing which I think gets to people is that Cloverfield movies... aren't like the other films, it's not like Terminator films... where you have the same small plot in the world, but it would be like if the second Terminator film existed on the same planet where a Robot was coming back to try to kill John Connor, but it focused on something completely separate from it but still in the same world which was under threat from a AI from the future trying to protect itself by striking back at the past.

I find them very fresh because rather than focus and lock on a small cast of main characters and tiny area you get to see that Cloverfield and the Cloverfield Paradox has impacted the entire world, not just a handful of characters banded together by the events of the movie.
