The rankings weren't kind to xbox in december at all, yet it sold great on december NPD.

That probably has to do with it being December, the biggest shopping period in the year and one of two months where the ratio of online to retail shoppers is massively skewed. Also, rankings on Amazon get loopy since lots of software and accessories go on sale, which can broaden gaps between hardware units.
And again, the only thing Amazon predicts is relative sales. That is, who sold more. It cannot accurately and reliably predict total sales numbers. It's entirely possible with these rankings for the results to be Switch>PS4>/=Xbone and yet have the Xbone sell quite well.

PS4 is quite close to the Switch but both SKU are still above it while the next PS4 SKU is alll the way down behind Xbox.
So I would say Switch > PS4 > XB1
Pocky Lover Boy!

February will be very interesting, its the first time switch wasn't on top of the best buy lists, since December, and its also weak on gamestop lists, i know people say they don't matter but they were accurate for november, and deember.

And how accurate were they the other ten months? Or over the last several years? Amazon can be wrong, but it is a rare occurence. The others being wrong is a common occurrence.
Having said that, I do believe this month will be close.

How many times has amazon been wrong in rankings since switch came out, its a different ball game with 3 competitive consoles. amazon was just wrong in december when it had ps4 with 2 sku's above xbox.

Twice. May and November.
In May, PS4 was damn close to having the top SKU. And more importantly, the Switch was still going in and out of stock but was also being bought in droves from *resellers*, distorting its ranking since obviously only new sales count to NPD.
And November was the launch month for the X. Launch months are always at risk for inaccuracies due to *preorders* which don't effect rankings for that month.
It's not due to competition, it's due to distortions that were known and recognized. Especially November.
And even with those 2 months, that's an 82% accuracy rate, just a few percent below the average of 85% and a higher accuracy rate than 2016, which was 75%.
So yeah, *toootally* different.

And yet we don't see you or anybody else bringing up this point to the people that say Nintendo is destroying PS4/Xbox or Nintendo is dominating.
🤔

Cause they aren't making posts saying Amazon is inaccurate. They are making predictions/assumptions. That's their business and I have no issue with that. The post you quoted never would have been made if quick hadn't made a post throwing shade at the Amazon chart's accuracy.
I'm not going to go around wagging my finger at every person drawing conclusions from the charts. That is, participate in the thread exactly as expected.
