It's not hard to imagine the Switch being the best selling console ever if Nintendo can keep the momentum. I'm excited to see! Crazy to think that it came after the WiiU, too.

Its going to fall behind this quarter.

Wii & PS4 were at ~20 million shipped after ~13 months while Switch will be around ~18 million.

But just being able to keep up with Wii & PS4 is impressive in itself.

hmm, launches aligned though wouldn't that put it behind PS2 still? The PS2 is always screwed over by launching 7/8 months (NA and EU respectively) early in Japan.

Seems kind of strange to say Switch is fastest selling worldwide, when PS2 is (probably) fastest selling in each individual region.

at a higher price point even (the PS2 I mean)

still really good first year for Nintendo so congratulations are in place

The Switch numbers are sold through to consumer though, not shipped. They literally said that in there report.

It's not that crazy, the precedent is there. After the sales dissapointment that was the GameCube, Nintendo released the Wii. And after the WiiU, Nintendo released the Switch. Nintendo has always done wonderful comebacks.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That's because PS4 and Wii had two holiday seasons after ~13 months.

No they didn't. The 14.86m is shipped.

To be fair, it’s also the best nintendo console since the N64. I did not like the gamecube or wii, and I skipped the wii U. If Metroid Prime 4 is good then I might even pick up a switch. I really only play indie games now since AAA has abandoned the types of gameplay I look for in a big budget game. It seems that Nintendo’s first party (which I consider AAA) is still going strong. I have to admit defeat as an Xbot.

Oh i read it as 12.76 million shipped in Q1-3. Plus launch at 2million something = 14.86 million.  My bad.
