mario kart 3ds  has a install base of 70 million mario kart ds 155 million, but like i said its best to look at the latest entries, like GT and halo series are on a huge decline, 2d mario hasn't had 20 million selling game in over 10 years. in all new mario kart will not out sell mario kart 8, remember hardly anybody bought a wiiu.and i'm sure most that nought on wiiu double dipped, for the much better version on the go.

You can't just wiki "Nintendo best selling franchise" and go by the whole Franchise sales, as that would be in favour of any Mario or Zelda game due to volume of releases. Fact is, on a game for game basis, 2d Mario, Animal Crossing and Smash all outsell Mario. It's all here on this site, simple enough for you to be able to comprehend.

what are talking about? we have 3 releases of 2d mario in the past 10 years, mario maker, NSMB 3DS, and NSMB wiiu, none have even topped 15 million.

is 100% false, 3d mario using nintendo official shipped figures, usually beats animal crossing, and smash. going back 2 generations yes 2d mario is much bigger, but lately they been on par with 2d amrio having a slight edge, but MO is about to change that.  

Furthermore, Odyssey is very likely to reach 15m+ because of its sheer brilliance. So long as a 2d Mario has some quality it will likely easily outsell Odyssey. As for your MK8D comment... LOL! Of course an all new MK on Switch will outsell it! I will agree that obviously some of the MK8 owners have double-dipped, i would wager a large proportion haven't, so that will prohibit sales somewhat. Then you have to factor in the users who played on friends' Wii u's etc. Also, the fact that it's not "New". A proper Mk on the Switch will comfortably outsell it, with or without a "hook".

I think your just ignoring trends, you have 2 nintendo consoles that both received a 3d mario and 2d mario games, and they sold very close to each other, thats means its a trend.

So your own "proof" is literally proof against your own point??? Lol! Even going by what you said, 2D Mario beats 3d Mario. Again, i proved to you last gen Smash beat Mario numbers. As for Animal Crossing, do you need me to provide more proof? The highest selling AC game outsold the highest selling 3d Mario game and New Leaf is still selling, so will likely overtake it before long. Incidentally, the highest selling proper 3D Mario game is actually Galaxy. Super Mario 3D World/land are more accurately referred to as "2.5D".

So, that's 3 out of your 4 "biggest Nintendo franchises released in 2017" myth debunked, 3D Mario is (was) the only 1 we needed to prove wasn't a bigger selling franchise than AC, 2D Mario and Smash and it looks like we are doing that now!
