33 million compared 105 million to ps1 how is that not a small amount, it sold a very little amount ww, and half the amount of ps in north america, even with a much better start. i skipped the wii because it sold due to motion controls just like kinect. it didn't sell like traditional consoles it was a fad.

The PS1 was an anomaly for its time. Didn't mean the 64 sold "little".

Next, so you're suggesting that the Switch is also a "fad", since it, too, isn't a "traditional console". How do those sell, exactly?

So are NES an anomaly because it sold 62M while none before managed it? And GB an anomaly because no HH sold 117M before?

Nope they were just the first to get the concept right.

Anything that breaks a norm, by definition, is an anomaly. But, you've completely missed my point for quoting him and I won't be going over it again.

It would be an anomaly if after it happening it doesn't happen again. If it happens again it is a shift of pattern or a disrupture.

Anamoly is something that happens punctually.

PS2 sold more than PS1 so PS1 wasn't an anomaly. GBA sold faster and DS more than GB so it also isn't an anomaly.

Ps4 with another beast week over 1m. It's in a different league to the rest. Stretching it's lead over the rivals nicely.

This will be its highest ever year but 2018 and 2019 should both beat this year.

Thats a very confusing statement

PS2 sold more than PS1 so PS1 wasn't an anomaly. GBA sold faster and DS more than GB so it also isn't an anomaly.

Once again, for its time, the PS1 was an anomaly.

Anomaly: deviation from the common rule. That's what the PS1 proved to be. These days, selling 100 million isn't anything unheard of.

From PS1 onwards no leader sold less than 100M, and during its first couple years it wasn't even on a high sales curve. So as I said it's more like a disrupture on the market than an anomaly.

As you put "deviation from the common rule", not "deviation from the previous rule". So it by standard is that it goes back to what it was before the anomaly.

Since GB which release 3y before PS1 sold more than 100M. So your use of anomaly see a little strange and more like to dismiss the point made by the other user. But since it is off-topic I'll stop.

As usual, you're creating definitions out of your mind. Good day, sir.

Show me were is the regular use of anomaly to define something that was one way and changed instead of something that was one way, had something different happen and then returned to how it was.

The way you use your definition would mark every single change and discovery as anomalies instead of changes.

The power of Kingdom Hearts getting folks to buy a PS4 during the holiday season. Amazing.
