Amazon is the only place that you can "pre order" something and cancel it with no fee.

If you pre-ordered the game you got a beta code. Otherwise it was a closed beta.

In essence a ton of people may have ordered a game that they can then cancel just to get a code for a beta period that is going on RIGHT NOW.

For actual results wait until February, or March.

But if lots of people canceled the pre order the game wouldn't be sold out right now.

Agreed but Sea of Thieves does have that "hit" feel to it. I think it will do very well.
