I made it to mission 7 or maybe 8 and then stopped. No real desire to return (other than Quiet)
I feel like open world doesn't help this game at all.

this is my first metal gear solid game. (other than ground zero). and honestly this game shouldnt have been an open world game. it would have been so much better if they made it a linear game with a lot of freedom in map design.

I was referencing you saying that you "NEED" to do repeated missions. wich is just not true.

Everything else was your opinion, I wont touch that.

And yeah as I said there are some people, or alot of people that did not like it. But that does not change the fact that from looking at critics from players (not magazines or blogs) its overwhelmingly positive. Which is, a fact.

how do i progress then without doing the repeated missions?

"No you don't. You have to compelte all (non-repeated) story missions, all important side ops and have at least 4 of each platform type (MB + FOB)."

You have to power through.  It's worth it.

Play previous 4 Metal Gear Solid games (Plus Peace Walker), they're linear games with freedom in map design.

you mean i have to have 4 of bases, the ones i need to buy with the online coins?

You can skip the missions that are repeat and only do the new missions to progress the story until mission 51. Is worth doing the new missions, there are few, just skip the ones that just harder version of old ones.

go look it up yourself :D I played the game never spent online coins never did a repeated mission nothing, finished the game. 100h playtime one of the best gaming experiences I had.

I took that statement from the internet after searching for 5 seconds, cuz I do not remember how it was exactely because I was just having fun. (without repeated nor online coins)

Have fun with the game or play some more of the same (battlefield (just my opinion :D))

So I finished mission 31. And now I'm just repeating the same missions in higher difficulty, which is just frustrating. Did the game end after chapter 1? I don't want to leave this game unfinished after the many hours I put into it. But I really really want to move on. Is the game done after chapter 1?

Sometimes this game can be brilliant, and other times it can be frustrating as hell.

Its just a bad move from Kojima, which does not make sense for me. Its also not explained at all.

Chapter 2 is a mix of new missions, including the real ending, and some repeated missions.

In order to unlock new the story missions you have two options:

1) Play the repeated missions the order they appear. In between them there are the brand new story missions that moves the story.

2) Play side missions. Just go completing them as you wish. After completing 3-5 Kaz will call you on the radio and you will be called to the chopper and a brand new story mission will be unlocked. RInce and repeat. This is what I did, this way I did not have to complete any repeated missions. Plus some side missions are really cool.

I recommend option 2.

Why Kojima did such an stupid move? DOnt know. Probably he wanted chapter 2 to be longer, didnt have time to do it and squeezed some missions repeated on ti. Stupid decision. Would have been better to just use some side missions as proper missions.

Now... WHERE IS MY DAMN MISSION 51???? Cmon Konami, do it for the fans and release it for free as an update.

Is there a way to not do the repeat missions? Holy fuck is this annoying.

Nope. You gotta do that in order to unlock more story missions. xD

Actually you can just do side misisons and the story missions will unlock. I havent even touched the repeated missions.
